I was actually looking at them earlier today. The prices have come way down and are not that much anymore. It is just the annoying monthly fee and where to put the thing in addition to big brother thoughts.

I have a quote from peoplenet for $2200 install and $40 per month. $1800 for equipment and $350 labor to install it. It's dated July 9th. -

I can get a Qualcomm MCP 50 for $700 and self install and $28.75 monthly service, through LS. You should check into XATA, http://www.xata.com/

See the problem is for O/O this is just an additional cost. Big companies will get federal dollars to put them in their trucks. The consumer will pay the price for this hidden tax thru higher consumer products
LaBubba, NavigatorWife, MNdriver and 2 others Thank this. -
$28.75 X 12 = $345 for a year of service plus the one time $700 equipment charge is less then I shell out for chrome and stainless goodies.

Guess the other thing is with trying to mandate all states to have prepass so they can track trucks. this argument can go on and on and on between all of us. Us old guys newer guys and between guys but what we have gotten away from is one thing myself included we are all truckers. We all do this for a living some of us for companies some of us as O/O. But we are all letting people who know nothing about trucking dictate our lives. Hos,, Eobr's, Csa its bad eniugh.the public who use to count on us as angels of the highways now look at us like were the scum of the earth.
Giggles the Original, MiFamilyGuy, NavigatorWife and 5 others Thank this. -
Nothing but bs having to pay for big brother to hold your hand
TheRoadWarrior, LaBubba and Giggles the Original Thank this. -
just got off a phone call with a guy from Verizon.
He said crap....
and I thanked him for saying it too. Told him that it let me know he was human.
And he told me thanks for being a trucker. Not enough people realize how important a job it is and that without us, the country would come to a halt. (he said his step-dad drove too).
And RoadWarrior, you hit on a biggy with that last statement.TheRoadWarrior Thanks this. -
MN and Poppa thank u. We all got away from the original op. We made it an argument amongst ourselves myself included like we were at a truckstop doing it over the dang cb radio. Im to dang old to argue and prolly change my ways lol but we all know 4 Wheelers and dot cops read ttr and I looked like a horses rear end by my actions just as others have. Lets not lose the vision we all have and thats to be the best at what we do.
LaBubba, NavigatorWife, MNdriver and 1 other person Thank this.
