don't think i've ever seen a camera on the cats. not that i need cats anyways. i've got scales on truck and trailer.

and somehow. i don't see truckstop scales being tied in with dot.

and introduced to elogs. you were probably trained and been ruled since day one. since you've only got 2 years.

i do elogs. mine don't come with a tracking. so yes it's easier then paper. but i'm also not restricted and ruled. and that's what the argument is about. not running legal or illegal cuz your computer can be fudged just as much as mine. the difference being mne isn't fudged by my company.

the box restricts you guys so serverly that it's not even funny. and you guys don't care. you love the govt telling you how to do your job. you love the govt telling you to park in BFE somewhere becuase you got held up in traffic. or sleeping at shipper or receiver. even though some of them want you off there property. how about if that shipper or receiver is in the dessert somewhere. closest town being 30 miles down the road. how about if your 5 miles away but out of hours from delivery or pickup. and that 5 miles is going to take you half hour. how about 10 miles from home to do your 34. but your out on your 70.

and don't tell me about trip planning. cuz that only works in a perfect world. and you can't see the future to know what circumstances might come up to screw up that trip you had planned. like construction that stops traffic for minutes at a time. or an accident that shut down the freeway

there's all kinds of scenarios that come in to play. but what it boils down to is you guys are on a ball and chain. and you don't even care. as long as you don't have to fill out a paper. and the computer can do the math for you. HECK. THAT'S ALL I CARE ABOUT. I DON'T CARE IF I CAN DRIVE OR NOT.

i don't care if i only got 7 hours sleep and was awake for 3 hours before i can start driving my 11. and now i'm 8 hours into my 11. i've already been awake for 11 hours now. i'm tired but i still have to drive 3 more hours. OH CRAP. HERE'S MY EXIT. AND I'M GOING TOO FAST. WAKE UP BEFORE I TIP OVER.

and you accuse us of being unsafe drivers.

must be nice to pull a van. hold the steering wheel. open the doors. back into the dock and let the warehouse unload or load you. drive when and where the box tells you. and sleep when the box tells you.

YEP. WISHED I HAD THAT EASY LIFE LIVING WITH A BALL AND CHAIN. and no exercise or reality of what it's like to actually HAVE TO DO SOME WORK.

that's the problem with all you kids today. YOUR LAZY. just like you were in school.
but i don't blame ya. like i said. i use elogs too. who the heck wants to fill out a paper.
my elogs just don't track me or dispatch me or direct me. i have a personal gps for directions and a cell phone for dispatching.

and just so you all know. my brother in law got a ticket at the scale for not logging his entire unload and load ON DUTY. he hauls oil 70 miles. comes home every night.

i know some of you guys are claiming offduty for those long visits. just a little FYI.

So you are saying that everytime I use a CAT scale DOT knows?

I find that hard to believe. If that's the case, how come CAT doesn't know. I scaled in at a CAT scale at exit 11 on I-20 outside Aiken, SC to go load at Active Minerals. Once I'm loaded I head back to scale and fax the loaded ticket to Active. But I was jabbering on the phone and drove past my exit. So it was at the 5, I believe, I went to turn around and seen a CAT scale there. Jumped on there and hit the button. Gave the lady the four numbers and sat there forever. Finally I asked if it mattered that I scaled in at another scale. She said yeah, so instead of a re-weigh, I had to pay another 9.50. If CAT can't even put it in their system, somehow I doubt DOT anywhere is linked up to CAT.

    You're full of it....

That sounds like a new employee issue and nothing more who simply wants to put his or her day in and go home. You're silly if think the Department of Transportation is not watching what is going on. You people are complaining about HOS. You can't draw with crayons on a piece of paper forever. New DOT standards are going to push lots of drivers out of the pool here soon just because they choose not to exercise and not live healthy.

CAT scales are certified and the most recognized throughout this country; they co-incide with your GPS coordinate / truck and trailer # etc / last BOL entry. When you approve your log entry, that goes not only to your company but to the DOT as well. That is why they want accuracy and detail. 95 % of the time; I get a green light at pre pass sites when the scale is open. I'm telling you, If I weigh and am heavy at first weight and simply slide two pins and choose not to re-weigh; I get messed with in multiple states. I'm to the point now, where I just pay the dollar and pull again into the fuel island and walk in to get the re-weigh ticket so I have CAT documentation with me on the truck. Much safer. Company re-imburses in most cases so it's not a biggie.

Last I knew; you have 24 hrs to re-weigh on the same CAT scale. If you go down the road, and pull onto another CAT scale or even across the street, plan on paying another $9.50 for a 1st weigh. You can't travel halfway across the country and then re-weigh 5 miles before the open chicken coop and expect that truck stop to honor your previous initial weigh 2 days before because they have the same type of scale. They're under total different management and overal agenda.

This is about accountability. Paper logs will be extinct here in a matter of a few years. For all the drivers that can still pass their DOT physical; they will get force fed the E-log whether you like it or not. I drop and hook onto 6 to 9 trailers every single day. Do you have room for that on your paper log? Hell no. I can document that all day long with my E-log and even make a comment behind it. Hit "save" / "approve" boom; it's gone. You guys are standing in line at the truck stop scanning documents? Been there and done that. The F1 button has been pushed so many times you can't even see it anymore. The F4 button has been pushed so many times you can't see that anymore either. PPffttt

You'll come on board some day; hopefully sooner than later. C-ya!
