    Hey Wannabe,

1979 is a long time ago and the charge most likely is not on your record. Remember, you only want to report or reveal what can be seen. Get a copy of your MVR (motor vehicle record) and then get a copy of your police record at your local police station. Report only what can be viewed, no one is going to go to your State Capital for a complete background check. The FBI only looks for red flags from a list, go figure. Fingerprints are required for a positive ID. What if they get the wrong John Parker Doe? This takes time and money so you know the trucking companies won't go there. Listen, if your a screw up stay away from trucking. This is a very difficult job and you will reveal yourself. Otherwise, don't be intimidated by these cops. Have a safe trip, Grey Ghost

Will any companies hire new driver's that have had a felony that gas been expunged? I tell the truth to recruiters and they practically hang up on me. seems like the only way to move forward Is to say no to a conviction. My lawyer say's I don't have to say yes to a conviction. I don't want to get half way threw orientation and get kicked out because i lied. :biggrin_25513:

The app I filled out said list any convictions that have not been expunged. I don't have any either way but that is what was on the app.

You won't get kicked out, once expunged it doesn't show up on a background check. You are worrying too much for no reason.

I have applied and been rejected by six companies as of today for being honest on my application.. In my own opinion, if you have any kind of conviction, don't waste your time in apply to school until you have your ducks in a row...if that means hiring a lawyer to expunge your record or getting sound legal advice....do it.

I am not knocking trucking in general....I am just stating from personal experience...I have old charges from Pennsylvania that under the new regulations prevent me from being a truck driver..and like I tell my girlfriend...why waste 1700.00 to go to school when even the bottom feeders wont accept me into the training programs? That is a very dumb risk to take to school on the promise of maybe being a truck driver...

Make sure that it was expunged. If it is then it wont show up on your back ground check. If it is not and is over seven to ten years old then many companies will hire you. Stevens Transport is one of those companies.:biggrin_2558:
