Hi...wondering what service or company the big trucking companies ( or anyone else) uses to do background checks? Also, do they do a nationwide wide check or just the state you have your license in ( for moving violations)
Thanks
For those with legal/driving record questions

Hi, everyone. I'm new to trucking and have picked Swift as a school to gt my CDL and work for. However, a year ago I had a little problem with a DUI. Luckily, I was able to get a Pre-Trial Diversion and was told that if I was a good boy the charges would be dropped. I have managed to out of trouble and am now done with my probation. So, I was not convicted of a DUI. Here's the problem....I was told that a background check will show the DUI but that charges were dismissed. Swift's application asks if you were ever CONVICTED of a DUI, and I was not. There is also a question which asks if my license has ever been suspended. Well, it was because of the DUI. But, I contacted the DMV and they said since there was no conviction that it would be taken off my MVR as well.
Ok, my question is this: Has anyone dealt with a pretrial diversion and a trucking school? And specifically Swift? Since I was not convicted of the DUI will I be able to obtain my Class A? -
Question. How far do they go back? how deep do they dig?

I have 2 points showing on my California license from 2005. Is this a deal breaker for getting job? I have no tickets since then and have never had DUI or accident.

I have a question to anyone out here that might can help me.... I am a new driver with 5 mo. of driving experience and I have 2 Non Dot incidents and 1 Non Dot *accident* The incidents was stuck in the mud in my 3rd month of driving and had to be towed, 2nd incident was damage to an customer property ( a conveyour belt was damaged by while unloading co. had to reimburse the client the cost of it) the *accident* was said to be an lane change/side swipe even though only the pov passengers side mirror was damaged . I never received an ticket for the accident only a collision exchange form... I have a clean MVR with no points and the *accident* isn't up there.... So my question is when applying to other companies do they even look at the non DOT incidents or do only the DOT part matter?.... DOT wise I have O on my DAC Report And on that report I have 3 Non Dot incidents/accident..... I am sorry that this is so long but I am confused about what part will matter to a prospective employer.....I am looking for any trucking company that is willing to hire me even if it means that I have to go thru a brief refresher course....

Its not a matter of IF, its a matter of WHEN your lane change incident shows up on your DAC as a preventable accident. If the carrier is aware of it, then it will get reported.

Then... when it is EXPUNGED it becomes sealed... but here is the CAVEAT... that nobody really knows... there is a little phrase in the law that goes to the tune of... records will not be accessible unless to Parole Officers etc, AND issuing a Professional License... something like that...
It is intended for fire arms dealers and liquor permits... but it is really going to depend on Swift...
NOW, what Swift MIGHT care the MOST about is their insurance rates... so, for you to have an expunged charge is a plus. Once expunged, the INSURANCE company cannot see it. -
Im an new recent grad from trucking school and want to know are there any companies that will hire me cause i have an six yr old felony traffic violation on record operating motor vehicle after declared an habitual offender, meaning operating an vehicle without license

So I have a question about my driving record. I have a speeding ticket for 10mph over the speed limit. Is that going to affect my ability to get hired?

If I drove for a local cement company and I got fired for dropping a set of trailers in the yard would it be on my dac report, even if I was a local driver?
