Depends on the site honestly. There was a site close to Midland that I saw a rattlesnake every time. Just be aware of your surroundings.

They are there but not as bad as some make it out to be. Most well sites are bare ground. No brush or tall grass or weeds for the snakes to hide in. Sure they could be hiding by pipes or whatever but in general they are pretty easy to spot on a well pad if you are paying attention.

see them occasionaly, they just slither away. most see them on lease road sunning themselves. altho I always look from a distance when walking up to a tank on a really really hot day they will be under the tank in the shade.
And yes, you will more likely have more challenges with recluse spiders than anything else.

keep in mind, just because you see a snake does not mean that snake is a viper. many species of snakes are very benificial(sp) and eat mice, rats, etc.

Aren't they all beneficial by eating pests?

Husband caught one out of Dilley some years ago while working. He said it was right by him and he popped it with something. He took to mancamp and made soup for the guys. Let’s just say he was only one who ate it, lol. He still has the skin and rattler though.

Desert creatures live in the desert. Some are neighborly and just want to say hi...some, not so much. Rule of thumb is to watch where you step and pay attention to any funny feelings on your pants leg if you stand in one place too long.
