Funny you mention Seven mountains. I was just coming down over there a while ago, and thinking of the time I saw a truck get pulled over at the bottom. I was going down at the speed limit, and this truck sails by going probably 50 mph, brakes smoking. The cop was at the bottom waiting. As I went by, the cop opened the door, reached in and turned the key off and put it in his pocket. I'm quite sure the poor driver got an earful that day.
For you Rookies this is how it's done on elogs

Time to drive
DoneYourWay, KillingTime, Texas_hwy_287 and 9 others Thank this. -
That particular mountain I had a trainer by the name of Ed Kuhn, a very good strong solid driver of many years more than I will ever see in my life time. He trained me on that specific mountain until I got used to it (Without a jake to boot...) and drive it precise.
even in the dead of winter with three feet of powder, on barefoot virgin retail rubber, up we went. Everyone on the bottom ran off the road on that last 1/4 mile section westbound coming off the two laner into the upgrade pull portion of the hill. If there was going to be a problem, they will have it right at that spot. -
Well holey moley we got us a super trucker in our circle!

I see the OP seems to have struck a nerve with the slacker crowd. They don't like it when others make their performance look bad and raise the bar and show what CAN be done when push comes to shove. They want to keep dispatchers convinced that 525 miles/day is all that is possible even under ideal circumstances. And these sorts of performance examples don't help perpetuate that notion.
It's understood you should only need to run like that to make a tight appointment or to get home for an emergency. It's not necessarily a preferred way of running for anyone [I don't think]
But I refuse to sleep on a ramp or a rest area that's immediately adjacent to the interstate. And with careful study of cross-county routes, you can find a first initial break point that will allow for future breaks in truck stops and still getting all but a lfew minutes of the 11 utilized.Last edited: Jul 13, 2017

I noticed you only have 15 minutes on duty on many of your days. My assumption is that's the minimum requirement from your company for pre and post trip, perhaps double duty by fueling during those and no on duty time for loading or unloading.
For long haul OTR seems like you are doing it right. But there are other ways to make money than cpm. I run hard when I have to. Other days I make good money running 33 miles (four loads). But then I log a lot more on duty time for load securement and delivery.
