I have been reading the posts from o/o and new drivers. seems to be a mixed bag of optimist and nay sayers. I respect the input of all and appreciate the drivers who have been there done that and wish to share their experiance with others. Well here goes. I used to drive years ago, 1991 for CR England, after a while ther eidrove local flatbed hauling rebar. Last 13 years I have been out of the business othe rthan a short stint with the US Army National Guard hauling tankers in 2003 and 2004. my wifes parents are up in years now and need us to move back to east texas from the pacific northwest where I have been in a good job that cannot transfer. I have kept CDL class A up to date with TX endorsment as my back up plan. I need to pay my dues and go over the road as a company driver for a while and learn the business of trucking again and then I plan to buy my own truck and trailer. any suggestions as to best type of work to get into to make the transition to O/O, by that i mean flat bed, reefer, dry van, tanker or covered wagon which will offer the best chances for success as an independant owner driver.
Thanks to all who reply
