Does Swift make you go into NYC or the five boroughs if you are OTR? Or is this area ran by dedicated NE regional drivers?

You deffinately don't wanna make a mistake in NYC with a wrong turn, you may never find your destination.I did one time ,thank god for my NYC atlas. That lead me right to the customer.Don't think to many companies have forced dispatched to NYC.But I do know Southern reefer does.

Swift is forced dispatch for company drivers, but there is some leeway.
You can't turn down a load without a valid reason.
Getting to home time is one, as is HOS.
The Plus-1 system lets you adjust times with your load refusal, just in case your times match the actual load times. It will be kicked back to you with those times, or it will be taken off you.
You 'can't' turn down a load because you don't like the destination, the weight, the miles, etc., like an O/O or L/O could. -
Heard a few weeks ago that you can actually turn down a nyc load.

I don't know about Swift, but some carriers do pay a premium for NYC. You will need to do a little more planning in the city. If it weren't for the tolls and traffic, it would not be a bad place to drive.

My husband drove for 14 months for Swift, only recently leaving for a local driving position. He WAS forced to take a NY load. Don't believe it when you're told no forced NY loads, it's BS

When you are a company driver it should not make any difference where you go as long as you are paid. Carriers have freight that they need to move in order to stay in business. While some may offer load options, they still must move their customer's freight. Sometimes, that freight goes to less desirable places in which to drive, but truck drivers are paid to move freight, no matter where that freight goes. It is better to go to NYC and make money that sit for a day or so waiting on a load going to a more desirable area.
