Now you hit the nail on the head..... This is where the Trucking Industry got off the tracks... Youd have some Ole Skool Trucker willing to work 10,000 hrs for nothing... The saying its JUST TRUCKING.... This behavior is why we are here today. The objective is... Work less and demand more money as the cost of freight being moved goes up

One thing is for sure. Many who today cuss and complain about paid parking at truck stops, and call those who used this service idiots, will suddenly find this a fantastic and worthwhile offering and will be asking for more. Who knew?

Where do you draw the line? Hmm. I have been out here three years. My step father has driven for 17 back in the 90s and early 2000's. My uncles done it for 8 years an continues. I will be 26 years old come October. If someone my age when I started driving can maintain that responsibility while in a truck, other people should hold up to the same standards. Maybe they need test to see if someone is even mentally stable to get behind the wheel.

If someone is about to get evicted from their house that is entirely their problem. People rely on credit too much. They over pay for things they do not need and are putting them selves into debt. I could go on in further detail. It is the least of my concern. Learn to control your finances. Learn self control.

If you are going to risk possibly killing someone because you're too selfish to park your truck and get some sleep, why are you driving a truck in the first place?

If someone doesn't have the responsibility to draw the line while being safe, they probably shouldn't be behind the wheel in the first place, much less a car. It's way to easy to walk into the DMV and obtain a license. Extensive driving schools should be required for people obtaining their license and it should cost more for the average individual. Don't like it? Stick to public transportation. Besides, all that money can be used on the countries infrastructure.

Here is an idea. For new drivers, keep them on the ELD's and in governed trucks until an allotted time has past and they have proven them selves worthy to maintain that responsibility with no governed truck and no logs.

It's pretty stupid for people who have common sense, self control to be punished for those who are not so smart. Someone shoots up a school, okay lets take everyone's fire arms away?

    Over my dead body.

Lots of bad and unsafe truck drivers out here, and for those I'm talking about, rest or lack of sleep has nothing to do with why they're a hazard to themselves and anyone who has to share space with them. I wonder what's going to be implemented to cull out the truly unsafe drivers? Can't wait to see that proposal.

Bus drivers are still on the old rules, 10/15/70 with no 14 hour window and apparently it is considered safe. Why doesn't each individual trucking company decide which set of rules fits their operation best and use them. Enforcement is well versed in both sets of rules.
    Or go get a motel....

    Bus drivers safe?

Got to tell you if they were safe, there would not be bus accidents that kill people.

What's the difference between a 60k lb bus speeding down the road with 50 people on it and a truck doing the same thing?

Let's not start on the bus driver safe? They have bad apples just like truckers do.

I rather haul nuclear missiles than 50 screaming brats all demanding a variety of things. UGH....

You lost me somewhere between forced and catch 22!! If he drove for an hour then he had plenty of time to find a spot to pull over! And if he was at the shipper for 5 hours why didn't he just log sleeper birth!!
