If I gotta move from a shipper rather I am out of hours or not I will Off Duty Personal Conveyance to find parking bub. If you wanna bow down to the all mighty government of 2017, feel free. I don't need someone watching over my shoulder dictating what I can or cannot do with my own vehicle. You feel me?

Don't like it, change HOS regs.

If a company tries to bully you into violating the law, complain formally of it in writing. If they retaliate against you, 1) have a savings account--you're gonna need it. 2) sue those b@$tards under OSHA 11(c) in your federal district. Out here in California, we call it the 9th Circuit.

Know your limitations, reefer loads compete with teams, not all dispatchers catch problems (or over book).

Refuse to leave customer ( or hide ) or ask if they can make exception to park there. Most won't, so you either park illegal on street, or get a larger hos fine.

Some employers will actually pay to have you towed. It gets easier over time you will figure it out. Dont forget washout time lost.

One tidbit that recruiters hate is you ask them straight up Does your company enjoy a account with walmart, specifically drop and hook? It is as easy as going to a DC and hanging out a while to see if a particular company drops a trailer, hooks another and leaves in 15 minutes no docking no comcheck no nothing. No time lost either.

I finally simply stopped running wild. No more walmart for me. I'll stay in Memphis with McKesson. I know exactly what I am getting into and it's really good log wise as long you are a team. If you are a single, you can pace yourself with the constant overnight delivery driving and returning to memphis in teh day time. Or flip it.

Chances are recruiters will not know the answers to the particular questions so you will have to bypass them and talk directly with the driver over dinner that you paid for. It's worth 15 dollars to gain a treasure trove of actual factual information on any trucking company. Maybe even learn a few things the recruiters would love to see you not learn.

Oh those. Im more than happy to talk about the greyhound versions. Im sorry, I did not mean to come on that strong. Frankly I cannot stand it when the yellow school bus people screw it up. Now OTR Greyhounds... whew. those are something else. I will say that I have absolutely and without question ridden my very last stinking disgusting sleepless mile in those #### things LOL. But boy howdy they can get up and run though.

If you really want fun, check out the casino buses near say Delaware house when they show up in herds anxious to ship the senior citizens to the slots, then to lunch then back home broke asap. I have never had a big truck fast enough to catch me those casino buses. Ive tried. Although there is one particular truck I would certainly have caught and passed them but Delaware and jersey was not a common ground for that particular company.

If I were a Greyhound bus driver, I'd verbally abuse my passengers. The Greyhound is full of people just released from prison, people who are so broke they couldn't afford Amtrak, or people on the way to a mega carrier orientation. Then you get the odd fellow who will decapitate you as you sleep, and after riding the Greyhound a few times, I guess I could empathize with that. After the 19th consecutive hour of listening to other people's conversations, hearing some inconsiderate idiot's music blasting through his "smart phone," and smelling the overbearing smell of the toilet cleaner from the back of the bus.... I've also considered decapitating my fellow passenger just for the sport of it. Just to pass the time. The act alone could take at least 27 miles from start to finish. Couldn't pay me enough to drive a Greyhound bus. You couldn't pay me enough to ride in one either.
