I always go by a couple of thoughts.
Big Pumpkin with 15000 drivers and god only knows how many in orientation weekly takes a chance and hire you. YAY.
But on any trucking job in the USA should new information come to light, that you might want to keep buried... well guess what. You dont have a job anymore.
I was a speeder early on and frankly it's outrageous. After a certain point speeding is a self defeating purpose. What is the point if are chugging along in a whipped V6 from Chevy and pretty much anyone can blow your doors off and or better yet, capture you for jailing or ticket. (At one point anything over 90 in Maryland which would have been about 45 over is a arrest. No ifs buts or maybes) arkansas says no tolerance, but Bill Clinton probably have never sped with that woman, making a mockery of the law. However if you are going two over they will run you down no problem.
Bottom line I think a company is just too big to get to know you that well. IF I wanted to be a bully vs someone, I need a few tidbits about that person first. To know that person better means I can insult him or her properly. If I did it right it leads to a yelling and shoving match. That has a way of taking care of the excessive stress built up by being trapped in a confirming behavior along with the rest of the herd.
Forced to resign for an almost 2 year old super-speeder...

I learned a couple years ago that one of the most severe situations a driver can find themselves in is hauling hazmat through a non-hazmat route in a residential area. IIRC the maximum penalty is $100K plus up to 20 years in jail.
Following GPS in your situation was your mistake. I use Rand McNally myself, but I don't follow it religiously.
Whenever I have a load that requires a critical "don't duck up this" route, I also research the route on Google Maps, Satellite View, and Street View. I also start making phone calls if I start seeing weird things in Street View, like cement bollards in the middle of the street.
I have hauled a fair amount of hazmat, over weight, and over sized loads in the last few years. You really have to CYA and get really anal about approaches to and from customers in residential areas. Call the customer to confirm the right way to get to their entrance.
Those bollards in the street weren't put up without a reason.x1Heavy Thanks this. -

I know. I've been there. Swift gave me a non-preventable/DOT reportable after my truck just died in traffic and had to be towed.Lepton1 Thanks this. -
