I saw that plug in intake from drivers side. They had it hooked to a cold weather ether start has a little line running over to where a can of ether can be mounted. Could I tee that hook up for both or just remove the ether start as I've been plugging it in to avoid cold start. ???

You can tee it for both, just make the ether start line a straight shot into the intake manifold.

I'm starting to get to know this motor with all the info. I have to cut the port and plug off on the exhaust the plug is rusted tight. I'll take a chunk off a pipe couple and weld it on with the wire feed welder aft I thin wheel the old one off. Prob won't haul any logs till next week aft get all this done. Thanks again.

Did you by chance try heating the plug area with a torch? Most times they will come out with some diligence.

I thought about that or even welding a nut to the head of the plug sometimes the quick heat from welding the nut will break it loose but it may be quicker to cut it weld a new piece on with good threads. We will see tomorrow.

I have an '87 LTL 9000 with a 3406, 18 sp and 4:10 gears. With 11R24.5's it turns about 1525rpm @ 65 MPH. The reason I say "about" is that the speedo is way out and the tach wanders a bit. However, I have a '98 WS with 4:10's and 11R 24.5' (18 sp) and it runs 1525rpm @ +-65MPH, an '06 WS with 4:30 gears, 11R 24.5's, 18sp runs 1600rpm @ +-65mph and an '05 Pete, 3:90 gears, 11r 24.5', 18sp runs 1450rpm @ +-65 mph. The speedo on my Ford reads 140 KPH when travelling 100 KPH BUT will sometime wander and at times read 80 KPH when travelling 100 KPH

The 18 spd must help keep the rpm down plus the 24.5 tires. I never said but mine has 11r 22.5's not sure how much tire size makes a difference all new to me on the commercial trucks. I needed something to start out with then ill either keep this for delivering firewood easy to get in and out of narrow driveways or trade up for a newer truck we will see how it goes. I like it so far and like running the loader on it. Gota start somewhere.

somethings still not right, with overdrive, 4.10's and 11r22.5 you should only be around 1650

if i remember right overdrive on 9, 13 and 18 are same .73?

my 2000 classic with 3.70 low pro 24.5(same as 11r22.5) and 13 over is about 1475 at 65, 1450 at 65 on speedo (63-64 on gps)

    my 92 fld 120 with 4.10, 11r24.5 9 speed over and 3406b was around 1600 at 65

It could be possible that he got the axle gear ratio off of the diff housing tag as rockwell tags the housing too and someone has changed gear ratios to say 4.33's? for climbing around in the woods.

For an 87 truck with a b model that's not too high for rpm. My 88 k-w with a 425 ran 1700 @ 65 with 4.11 on short rubber. It had a 8LL in it. The old motors weren't as sensitive to rpm as the new ones. Especially when pulling heavy.
