What the heck are you talking about?????? Where do you get from anything I said that your not entitled to your opinion? Nowhere did I suggest anything along the lines your commenting on... nor did I make it a political statement.. Simply stating a fact, I am learning the broker side of the business now and finding out a lot has changed here recently and yes labor in Canada is cheaper.. AAAAAAA!!!!!!!!

Perhaps you need to read again what I said..

"I already explained that, math is easy, pay a company less to do the same work a American company would have to charge more to do.. Thus saving the shipper money.."

Let me help you understand this cause obviously a few foreigners don't understand what that means, and how things are... The statement does not mention DRIVERS........... it mentions COMPANIES..... do we get that part yet? okay once we understand that then the next part will make more sense... It cost Foreign companies less to operate in their county then it does an American company to operate in America (a lot to do with taxes ext.. that are funding all theses foreign countries, like the 240 billion a year trade deficit between America and China) Okay let me help you again, this means a foreign company can do the work cheaper because they can run their business cheaper, okay if you understand that part and only if you do understand that part you will understand this, now the foreign company can afford to pay the drivers near or even the same as an American driver because they don't have the same outgoing expenses as American companies... Now do you understand???? I said companies not DRIVERS...

And since YOU went there let me educate you on the people who came to America back then... THEY WAS PROUD TO CALL THEMSELVES AMERICANS, unlike most of the foreigners we have migrating here today... that's a fact.......

Why do you hear people saying "if you don't like it then get out".....
Well AMERICANS are just sick and tired of funding all these foreign countries.. AMERICANS want to start taking care of their country to get it back to like it once was because we know WE AS AMERICANS have the best country in the world......

I lost about 20 minutes of sleep lastnight thinking about this...

    This is contradicting

first you been here 20 years and don't consider yourself an American..

Yes it is not a requirement... your luck this country does allow that because if you spoke like that in many other countries you would not be alive..

You like it here? really? but not proud to call yourself an American? why do you like it here? because it happens to be the best country in the world?
making good money off the economy Americans built?

Why do you have to be proud of the country you live in???
Its called respect for the people who died to make this a place you like to live in.. Its called respect for the people who protect this country so you can "like to live here".. Its called respect for the people built the best country in the world... Its called respect for your neighbor, your
"fellow countrymen" (by the way since you brought up the past the term "fellow countrymen" was used all the time back in those days) Its called UNITED as one to make this country better... If you haven't noticed this county is called "UNITED" States of America.. There is no UNITED in the garbage you speak of...

Really? compared to other countries I would not think they are that bad..

Do you have any understanding of the definition of patriotism.. because you just defined it... patriotism is caring for your country and trying to make it a better place.. Sorry but you have it backwards and you should of said
"People should have more "patriotism" and this would be a better place...

You my man lack Patriotism and that's what is partial the reason this country is starting to go down...

I love America, it has its problems and despite those issues this is the greatest country in the world....

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

That is something we need to bring back and screw this socialist crap.. We need loyalty we need honer and most important we need respect for our great country that WE LIVE IN........

Adding to the foreign company debate.

Foreign companies get multiple tax breaks.

#1 They are exempt from taxes in their own country, for operations done in another, for the most part. US companies must pay US taxes regardless of the country they are located in. If their home office is located within the US.

#2 Cities, Counties, and States will give ANY company a tax break for locating within their locale.

So now, not only have they reduced their operating cost through their country's tax laws. We hand them additional cost savings by allowing them to operate without paying property and business taxes outside the federal income tax.

Paybacks are hell. And with the current devaluation of the dollar. We will see a massive influx of foreign countries relocating while they can to the US.

If you're a Foreign National located within the US. You can expect your family to be asking for help with their rent in a few years. As your jobs back home dry up and relocate here :)

While economics isn't my strong suit. It's not really difficult to grasp the real issues in relocating a business overseas.:biggrin_25522:

Truckerjo, props to you. As I said, this post wasn't intended to be political in any way, but in lieu of the comments by the proudly non-American poster it has turned that way. It's great to see your passion and love for this country. Thanks for your replies.

Oh boy, you just opened up a can o' worms here.

I am not going to tell you to "love it or leave it" but why the Hell are you here if you feel that some things make you "cringe"? btw, I would rather "cringe" than be thrown in prison or worse, beheaded because I was an individual thinker who determines his own path unlike some socialistic and Arabic/Muslim states.

America is not perfect but if it were not for America, Americans, and the American ideals, most of the world would be under some third world dictatorship or under some fascist control.

You came here to take advantage of our "Free Market System" to earn money and have a better life than from whence you came. Would you have it so good anywhere else and have the right to bash that country too?

That's the issue that baffles me. Some, not all, foreigners come into this country and complain that they aren't getting the "help" that their old country gave them.
For one, this isn't your "old" country so stop thinking that America owes you and everybody else...that's what a "free" society is about, you have the right to attempt the betterment of yourself.
Anytime a government offers help caution needs to be exercised. What they can give, they can take away just as well.

    Get over it....
America is about your right to succeed or fail on your own.

    Hey Guys...calm down already...

This thread was started because evo wondered why other drivers didn't know about their axle weights.

Here's one explanation for you evo...being from the north our weights are heavier than yours...THEN we have to convert them from kilograms to pounds & not all drivers are old like me & are still able to do the conversions :biggrin_25523::biggrin_25523::biggrin_25523: We went to the metric system in '78 or '79 if memory serves, so being I was in high school then I got the basics on it. But it was tough when I ran down south, cause I always had to do the conversions & hope like h#ll I didn't make a mistake.

Even now.. I have to do many conversions still...I get paid by the mile, but my maintenance, odometer, etc is in kilometers... all weights EXCEPT axle weights are in POUNDS. Reefer temps is in F & if it shows in C...the reefer had a brain fart & has to go for repairs...go figger

Thank you everyone for such a great explanation on why most foreigners come here. They don't give a rats ### about this county in whole. All they care about is making they kind of money they other wise would not make in the own country. Personally I don't care who comes here to better their lives, all I ask for is that they do it legally, pay their taxes, and don't slander, our great nation as a whole..
