Snoopycda: Awesome post. Reminds me of applying for a reefer job. Wpg. to Calif. Recruiter told me that there would be an unpaid layover. But not to worry as some of his drivers get together, bring a BBQ and spend the day at the beach. Ya,sure. Reality would be more like spending the reset layover at a stinky Pilot in Bakersfield.

I have not stayed there for a number of years. I am sure it does fill up quickly. About 10 years ago I was headed to Calif. When I got to St.George,UT my genius dispatcher informed me that I could not deliver until Monday. It was Friday. I got into the Pilot in N. Vegas. Fueled up and parked. I was approached by some strange young guys. Fast talkers. They were approaching many of the parked trucks . I became nervous told the guy I had to get going and hit the road. Saw the truck stop at Whiskey Pete's. Horrible spot. Bad food. Dirty showers. Made Bakersfield look like the Ritz. Live and learn.
