Former Dutch Prime Minister Dries van Agt and his wife die ‘hand in hand’ by euthanasia at age 93

They just legalized this in Canada a few years ago. I don't trust the government with this one.

With respect , Would you think differently if they were 33 ? Maybe a drug addict thats a burdon on all ? Would that also be courageous or brave ? Just curious .

 

Not sure I see the connection, between a 33 year old addict who ends it all all because they can't face the future and a 93 old couple, one of which at least is suffering from an incurable and painful illness and, after 66 years of marriage to the same woman, decides with her that there is no future for either of them.

There is no chance for them of re-habilitation at that advanced age, only more of the same with possibly the additional agony that one goes first leaving the other with yet another burden, that of living on without the companionship of the love of their life.

With your addict, at 33 who knows what lies ahead, but it is certain that there is a possibility, however slim, that they may be cured and live a useful life for many years to come. If they take the easy way, that is not courage, it is despair.

 

There is care for pain and we all get old . Just another subject we are not going to agree on .
