What is your thought on having transparency in brokerage?

In other words the trucking companies actually being able to see what the broker is going to make on that load or what he did make on that load.

What do you think about that?

I feel the shipper has more of a right to know what the broker is charging than the trucker. A big reason brokers exist is so the shipper doesn’t have to deal with truckers. And I think they have a right to know what kind of fee they are paying for that.

I know every load is different but what’s the usual profit (rip?) to them ?

I would say $300-700 on normal van loads and shorter runs. Usually never less than $1000 on oversize and long runs.

Note to self: find these TQL customers and undercut the #### out of them.

But there’s also times where I saw brokers take huge loses just to make sure the load picked up on time. When they said they were losing money on a load, they aren’t always lying.

Did you ever see an agent stand up to a shipper? Like: "Sir, there's no trucker in their right mind that will haul this for that rate."

Oh yeah absolutely. Sometimes they got more money and other times they lost the load and/or customer. I found shippers to generally be really unreasonable and mean people.

Of course. Shipping cost is one of the only parts of their outlay that they can control. Thanks for the thread. It's good info.
