We live in a very different day and age now with all the legal nonsense going on in our industry. Any old timer can remember back in the day when all it took to find a job was one simple phone call telling a recruiter that you had a cdl and the next question from them was, 'where do i send the bus ticket too?'

but times have changed, maybe for the worst, and not for the better.

its scarey now, but anyone just starting out had better at least do one solid year with a company before they even consider changing jobs, if not, it may make them unemployable, and thats a fact.

now with returning to truck driving again, yes some people may be like a sports all star, that even after 10 years of not having picked up a bat, can still hit a home run. while others, maybe quit because they were never really any good at it in the first place. huh, think about that!

theres lots of other threads on this board about trainers who have gotten people returning to trucking after a long break, and some good, while many others not so good.

so you may be a superstar, but not everyone else is.

its becoming more and more hostile out here, its a war zone, and the people entering it had better be prepared for the worst, because thats exactly what may end up happening to them.

buddha, you have a valid point. I was always of the mindset that after taking a hand on a 20 minute test drive you can pretty much tell if he can drive or not. These days they ain't even giving a guy a chance to prove that..... I will grant you not all are superstars, and alot never were worth a darn to begin with.... I would not call myself a superstar ,but i am pretty darn good at everything i do know how to do, once i learn to do something it pretty well stays with me for life , i might need a little update on the newest rules , here and there cause i have been gone for a while , but that usually don't take but a few minutes of time to get updated....

when i don't know something i get busy and learn whether is doing research or finding the local expert and picking his brains to learn what he knows.....

yeah, actually after thinking about it, it just may be they were never really any good at it and thats why they got out of trucking. I remember I was in a starting class of 50 with Burlington Motor Carriers, BMC, and the average was 5 of those 50 would make with the training with a trainer, and only 1 out of 50 would still be with the company in one year.

I am of the opinion that some are born to be truckers, and others maybe not.

    who knows?

If you want on the job refresher training and don't mind driving as a team my company will put you to work right away as long as you have at least 6 months experience and a clean driving record. Also no criminal record. You will be put out on the road, most likely with me and you will start making money right away as well as getting a refresher course. Give me a call. 267-567-5670 I'm Jerry

nope i had one of the best trainers in my opinion..... Roderick "Tony" Ross aka Coach Ross..... AMAZING experience driving under his advisement and supervision. His way of teaching his trainees was by far the best trainning i've come across in a while!

I fell for the Make $$$$ leasing a truck scam..... MORON! im stupid i should have doen the reasearch on here prior to going with them right off the bat.
But the real story goes like this..... Did my training went to SLC for Phase 1 Upgrade with 15,025 miles under my belt. SLC says Not enough miles. So trainer picks me up and says ill take you to BH, Ind. So we get there i do my phase 1 and sign a lease on a 2010 Prostar with 235,000 on it. good to go right? WRONG needs a tire, mirror, and a good DOUCHE! so that gets done. so then i get a repower from BH to menomie WI, has 9 hours left on it before Wal-mart refuses the load. get it there no problem. Then i get a load from black river falls WI, going to conklin NY. do that with a couple minor issues so anyways get done for 2284 miles and get a paycheck saying i owed -492.85 so i dropped the truck off and told them to screw them selfs!
