    Take out 6% that you the employer is not paying in FICA and Medicare and you have $1,034 left, then you take out about $500+/- a month for workman's comp and then another let's say $400 a month for unemployment and other expenses.

    This brings you down to roughly $800 and you have not even started to pay your taxes. And you pay those taxes on the entire $1100 not the $800 you are left with.

    YES 1099 is a ripoff. Running company equipment, you are an employee.

    I'm not here to argue about 1099 - Posted an ad here for anyone in Chicago-land area that might be interested in a change. Anyone else wanting to argue about 1099 or workman's comp, take it up on the thousands of other miscellaneous posts on this forum arguing the same.

    Then next time post in the jobs offered section and not in the Intermodel section. Post in the wrong section and you're open to our opinions.

    There's plenty of companies who pay W2 around Chicago. If you feel the need to pay 1099, you're losing the ability to hire some good drivers.
