I was looking through some of my old trucking stuff and found this radio new in the box! I forgot i even had it.
I think i bought it as a backup and never used it.
Also found a road king mic.....
My old Galaxy 44 still talks but the knobs are scratchy when i adjust anything,
Just wondering if that Uniden was a decent radio and worth having a tune up and maybe an echo board put in.
I may still carry both of them but i got a feeling the old Galaxy is nearing the end of its life.
Was also looking at Sparkys CB shop at a new Connex 4300 but that gets expensive.
Found a Uniden PC78LTW in my closet of old truck stuff!

Uniden typically is a pretty darn good radio EZ. Good find on the RK too..my favorite mic.

The Uniden 78 is every bit as good as a Cobra 29 and usually a few dollars cheaper. Some actually prefer the Uniden 78 over the Cobra 29. The new Cobra 29's are now made in China.
I would not trade your Uniden 78 for a new Cobra 29 even up. -
Thanks guys!
I took the Uniden and hooked it up in the pickup truck. Still works but the mic has a bad connection. That must be why i was not using that mic.
Hooked my Astatic mic up and it talks fine.
Put it in the wifes car and had her ride around while i talked on the Galaxy. Then we switched places so i could hear how they both sound.
The old Galaxy stills blows smoke! I was probably 4 or 5 miles from home and could hear her on the Galaxy plain as day.She could hear me on the Uniden too but said it was not very strong sounding.
I wonder if that electronics spray cleaner will take care of the scratchy knobs on the Galaxy? -
Yes Uniden makes good radios. In fact the older Cobra 29, Cobra 25, Cobra 78x, Cobra 148 GTL....all at one time used Uniden boards. These are the same Cobras people now pay good money for. The newer Cobras have Maxon boards in them.
As for your Galaxy, the scratchiness might mean the pots have some dirt in them and need cleaned.
