Here are some I was talking about:
http://www.truckpaper.com/listingsdetail/detail.aspx?OHID=5232409 fresh overhaul as said
http://www.truckpaper.com/listingsdetail/detail.aspx?OHID=5246149 low mileage
http://www.truckpaper.com/listingsdetail/detail.aspx?OHID=5275775
And now some volvos
http://www.truckpaper.com/listingsdetail/detail.aspx?OHID=4077861
http://www.truckpaper.com/listingsdetail/detail.aspx?OHID=4774535
http://www.truckpaper.com/listingsdetail/detail.aspx?OHID=5156667
And some better volvos
http://www.truckpaper.com/listingsdetail/detail.aspx?OHID=5004953
http://www.truckpaper.com/listingsdetail/detail.aspx?OHID=5125227
http://www.truckpaper.com/listingsdetail/detail.aspx?OHID=5275333
http://www.truckpaper.com/listingsdetail/detail.aspx?OHID=4991253
These are some options for other trucks. The reason the Volvos are there was due to the mention of you kind of liking them and people liking the newer ones.
Found my dream truck but have a few questions

There's nothing wrong with ACERT CAT's. Read up on them all sorts of good info in the garage section. Just avoid anything 2008 or newer with SDP and you will be fine. Those warranties from the high risk lender "buy here, no credit, no problem" places are just aftermarket warranties worthless pieces of toilet paper they sell to pad their bottom line. Do some searching on here about how worthless aftermarket warranties on used equipment have been for people who thought they had something and found out after thousands later they had nothing. The only warranty worth anything on a used truck is one documented from CAT, Detroit, Cummins or Volvo on the overhaul - and you will have to pay a transfer fee to get that coverage (do that with CAT not the used truck dealer). Wasting time and money on rods and mains in one of these CAT's when they're so close to an inframe overhaul (ask me how I know that
) another gimmick. I actually would be shocked if they even pulled the pan off if you paid for it. Those adds with the $995 rods and mains deal have been in truck paper for years. They always look like a pretty truck from afar in the picture and the adds are all worded the same. Probably have krylon overhauls these guys mention. OIL CHANGE EVERY 8,000 MILES. NO LEAKS. NO BLOWBY.. yeah, yeah, yeah same rediculous ads on every truck. TRUCK LIKE NEW!!! oddly never mileage on any of them...

I just drove a 10 speed for the last 5 years. I wanted an 18, but I just drove what I had. The new ride has an 18. The 10 speed was fine. Wanting and needing being 2 different cats, don't pass a rig up on the tranny unless that is in the "need" column. Auto parts don't need OD splits...

10 speed are great combo, real easy to drive and less hassle. Had a 18 speed and i like my 13 speed more. no offense but it Sounds like you want bragging rights.
"Got a pete with a Cat and 18 Speed with 3.55 flying by everyone with 15k load on Chattanooga, aint nothing touching me " lol had to do it, been their done that but i had a c16 -
Those were just to show you what's out there. But a 13 is just as good as an 18 when hauling light loads. Volvo, well I heard lots of good and lots of bad with them. If the truck you want is that 03, then take it. If it's the truck that makes you happy and money then why not. You said somewhere that this truck is not for a few years not long term. Besides, when you give the road up you will have one heck of a toy. At the end of the day, YOU are the one driving it and using it. If YOU are happy with that truck when you buy it and it meets your needs, buy it. A truck to some is a tool and they don't care, but for others it's their baby, their pride and joy and don't care what others think. You can tell when it's an expendable tool or extension/part of the owner operator. Good luck with your choice and future.

I'm not really looking for a 10sp because the 13 and 18 are better for fuel and seems like it would be easier on the engine pulling shorter gears instead of lugging longer gears. Plus I have only found very few nice 10sp 379s. The 18sp puts me in a bigger market for finding a truck. -
VVA related problems (and a lack of guidance from dealer) cost me ~$20,000 on the Acert we have but other than that I would agree with you. -
Thing is there's plenty of info out there how to keep one tip top. If I was looking for another truck I wouldn't shy away from acert.
