While I was there Saturday there was a man there that bought a truck from them a month earlier and left his old truck there until he could get it home. When the salesman went inside I asked the man if he was happy with the truck and if they did him right. He said his first impression was that his truck was priced a little high. Then he noticed that it had new brakes and tires and everything had been repainted and had all new interior so he bought it and he said so far its been worth it. From what I've seen, this place is pretty up front and straight forward. Everything goes through their shop before it's on the lot. I asked him to see another truck and he said it hasn't finished inspection so he wouldn't even let me look at it. Some could say that's hiding something. Others could say that's just a way to offer a quality truck. I'm off all next week so hopefully I can get back over there before it gets sold and go over everything again. This place doesn't keep trucks long. I had 3 I wanted to look at and all 3 were sold between Monday and Friday.

The story behind that truck was pretty funny. A guy wanted the truck. He told his dad and his dad said no. The dad went on vacation and when he got back it was sitting in the drive way. He asked the kid about it and the kid said he went and borrowed money from their farm credit and took the keys and put it up for sale. Jts isn't selling that truck. They are just advertising it for the guy because he is a friend.

That kid would be in some serious crap if he was my kid.

Well I looked at several of the trucks they had on their site and they all looked brand new. So someone in their shop knows what they are doing. Do u know if the trucks that they have listed with 200,000/2 year warranties are all rebuilt ?

All of the 2yr 200k warranty trucks have rebuilt engine, trans, and rears and have less than 1mill miles. That's why this one isn't eligible because there is over 1mill on the clock. To make it eligible I'd have to take it and get it in framed and have the trans and rears rebuilt then I could get it on the warranty for an extra $3,000. One of the ones they had that I wanted to look at had the warranty but he sold it within 3 days.

I looked at a few other trucks while I was there and all of them were very clean except 1 379. It's green and the interior was horrible and a cab extender was bent up. He said they weren't going to put money into it. They were just going to sell it cheap as is to get it off their lot.

There's been a lot of good advice given, but I agree that this
truck seems over priced, and he might even knock a few bucks
off the price, which still leaves it too high, for that old of a truck
with lots of miles, and an uncertain history.

Never let a dealer know that you're in love, (never love
anything, that can't love you back - but that's a whole other
story) he could probably see that big vein in your neck throbbing.

I worked for a short time (and hated every minute) selling
new and used cars, when anybody showed up, just looking
slightly emotional, they usually had you. If you showed any
love at all, they had you, and forget any meaningful price
cuts, the more the love - the higher the price - no mercy!

And I've seen many drivers who took pride in their ride, didn't
really matter what the name on the hood said, or how fancy
the paint looked. Even a Mack or Intl, heck even Fords if they're
kept clean and sharp. I've also seen many Pete's with all that
store bought bling look terrible, just an old lady with too much
make up on, with a long blond wig. When you get close up, ya
    just wanna run...

Now think if you got real close to the Pete you want, maybe not yet
pretty, for let's say $30-35K. Now you could make it like new, just the
way you want it. AND have enough cash left for an in-frame, new tires,
rebuilt tranny, new paint. Seats too. Then you'd have a truck that you
could put your trust in. With a warranty!

You'd know for sure when and where the work
was done, and who did it. Not have to think back 700k miles and
    make guesses about it.

And the the best part - you'll sleep a whole lot better
    with money in the bank.

    Good luck!
    wish you well

    I think overpriced.

OP,what king off MPG do you think you will get?
It is very nice having the "best" engine but if MPG is eating your profits................then your bussines will really be a hobby.
    And that would be waiste.

Another question you have to ask yourself.............if this truck is soooo good ,why did the previous owner sell it?

    Good luck.

I would look at some off these trucks again.
You can buy one,replace/overhaul most off it,repaint it just like you want and still have change left in your pocket.
Why not build it just like you want it?

Rebuilding one right off is pretty much out of the question. There is too much time involved with me working like I do. Why pay someone 10s of thousands to do it when i can do it myself for 1/10th the price. I have budgeted $80k for a truck. So I could actually buy it and still do an in frame immediately and it not hurt my money. When you get down to $30k trucks you start running into more problems like the TMC trucks I was looking ata month ago.

I have bought more than one diamond in the rough to fix my self and flip it. You cannot re rig a truck to your specs cheaper than you can buy one exactly as you want ready to go. It does seem cheap and easy to change a sleeper and paint or pull a 10 speed out when it goes and replace it with an 18. Most likely you will pull a good 10 because it isn't what you want. If your looking at trucks with the I'm gonna have to inframe it immediately look at different trucks. Some breakdowns occur right on the mileage those usually end up with update parts because a problem. With major overhauls who knows. I have seen more overhauls not last till the water gets hot due to shoddy work. I want to see it proven to be right only way there is lots of miles. I will say there are times to build a truck such as heavy haul, or other specialized freight. To make money he needs to be rolling not re rigging the truck.
