If it is not in my contract, and I hadn't agreed to have it in my truck, I would sure as hell rip it out, and reconfigure it with my trusty 4 pound hammer.
I do have a problem with privacy issues. If you do not know WHAT and WHY they track, who knows whether they have a hidden cam in there to see whether you screw your wife on the bottom bunk or the top bunk. There are plenty of tracking companies out there with psychopaths in their control rooms. You just would not know.
On the other hand, if you both have access to the tracking software(that is you and the finance house, that is), and you are sure there are no audio/video lines attached, it might be a handy tool to use when some druglord highjack your truck in Florida. Might give you a way to get your truck back, and to crack some skulls in the process. The cops may even be interested in where your truck is being "borrowed".....

Better read your contract, if they did put it in and you destroy it, you could be charged with it. As the others have said, leave it alone. Who knows, if you truck gets stolen, it may be a way to recover it.

Are you the 2nd or 3rd owner of this truck , a few used trucks my son bought ( not financed ) had them installed but deactivated , supposedly too costly to take them out as well as being outdated .

That is correct. Wrap it in tin foil or bag it in a foil bag. This will render it "working", but untraceable in two ways because the GPS signal cannot get to the GPS module and the GSM or CDMA module cannot get the signal out. No handshake, no joy.
There may be another issue. Some of the later modules has an "interrupt" signal line to the ECM and sometimes even to the ultrashift ECM. This is used to shut the engine down remotely or to cause it to not shift beyond second gear. If the unit remains active but unresponsive, this line remains open and would not shut the engine down. So where is the picture of it????
I had an issue with my ignition switch not working all the time. Once I crawled under the truck, I found a spliced in wire. i followed it to a GPS tracking device that the dealer had installed. I called him and was like WTF man.... he said the insurance company requires they put them into the trucks. I told him next time he needs to have someone else install it cuz it rendered my truck immobile due to the spliced wire causing the key to not power the relay. I ripped it out and tossed it in the trash, and they never said a word.
If you were not supposed ot know it's there, then how could they say you removed it??? You have no idea what they are talking about

this is the route i would take if questioned on it -
With me being a 12 volt installer in my past life before becoming a truck driver. I can speak from first hand professional experience. There more than likely is a ignition interrupt in the system along with an accessory interrupt. Bit, never fear...it's a very simple system, all they do is take those wires, cut them in half, and hook the 2 ends to the opposing sides of the system. Removal is as easy just hooking those 2 ends back together. Just follow them down and you should have no problem unhooking it.

Vehicle wiring is color coded with additional stripes. They just cut the wires and spliced into them. Before cutting any wires I would trace them all out. It is helpful to have vehicle wiring diagram handy. I have seen so many of these installations that have poor splices that cause issues.
