Alright well I'll look into it haha, I don't mind being a little different, I have yet to see an escort vehicle with a 9' whip lol.
Oh, I meant to ask if "heat" means having over the legal 4 watts or is that the radio mod?
edit...
Do you think you could link me to the 108, their product page is confusing to me, don't really understand much of it and not seeing what I'm looking for.

It's the same thing as running a 102 whip except on a 102 whip you need to also run the 6 inch potbelly spring or the swr will be way to high.
The 108 you don't need a spring and it flexes very well. Plus you can trim it down if needed.
"Running heat" means to run a linear amplifier on a CB. It's not legal but people still do it to get out, as a band-aid/compensation for running a crappy antenna. -
Alright cool, what do you think of the 72"? Same thing just a little less range?
Now do I buy the Wilson 1000 and this antenna goes in it or buy something from MFJ. Again, pretty new to it all, gramps has set up all of our other cars and I don't like being normal. -
I've never heard of a "72 antenna. Where did you see one of those?
You have to choose between if you want to run a Wilson 1000 or if you want to run a 108.
The Wilson 1000 is a magnet mount set up with the coax. Magnet mounts are best used in temporary situations.
The 108 can be used either on a magnet mount or a hard mount. Hard mount meaning it's affixed to the vehicle via bolting on. This is the correct long term way of installing an antenna.
You'll also need to purchase a mount for the 102 as well as the coax. Both can be had at any CB shop and even in truck stops. The mount accepts the 3/8 stud on the 108 and also has the coax hook up on the reverse side. -
Here's the 72"... http://www.mfjenterprises.com/Product.php?productid=MFJ-1964
I will probably go with that one.
Thanks for the education.

The 72" whip is 3 ft. short of being useable on CB. Not sure what it's for but it certainly will not work on a CB.
The 108 I mentioned will work or a Wilson 1000 with the 5 ft. whip will work. The reason the Wilson will work is because part of the antenna is the coil in the base of the antenna. The 108 will work because that's what it's made for...11 meter use.
The back rack with a tab welded onto it for installing a 108 whip would be excellent. -
They are widely used in Alaska with no operator licensing for them. -

ANY OTHER frequency is assigned by the FCC or a cordinator.
