you might try Blackburns on 287 just south of down town FT. Last I heard they were still hiring owner operators. At least my boss has been talking to them pretty regularly. Good luck.

Right..Barnett Shale is different from EF with current gas prices. EF rig count is flat to up, oil companies looking at downspacing wells in the EF which just means they'll need more sand. If work is going down, must mean someone else is taking it I think ...

Talked to a friend and he said it is slowing around FW and Dallas. Victoria is booming.
I have an application in with GoFrac from FW. They have a hiring freeze on right now. My friend builds frac equipment and they are booming. -
I just want to inform my truck drivers colleague, to please, please be careful with Quicksand Services in Fort Worth, TX. This company is a Frac Sand Hauler, they promise Owner Operators a $5,000 dollars sign-on Bonus, and that they are the pioneer in the frac sand transportation industry....What a Big Lie! From the company owner to the general manager All of them are dishonest, and heartless. They don't care what sacrifies all of this Owner Operator makes to buy a blower, to get a trailer and many, many other sacrifies just to start in this buissiness. They are forcing new Owner Operators to get in to Quick Sand Service Authority, so that way they can change the prices on the loads and the miles, and charge on many different things without disclosing upcoming charges to the new Owner Operator. On top of that the dispatch personnel is like a joke, they lie, they don't take their job professionally.
I just finish talking to the wife of a Owner Operator who got Terminated last Thursday, just because he called dispatch to notified them that he was getting loaded in South Texas and it was taking more than 14 hours. The poor Owner Operator was just doing his job, communicating dispatch on what was going on, and dispatch got upset and blame the Owner Operator of not putting pressure on the well personnel. Is dispatch responsible to call the customer and ask if there is any technical issued or what is causig that major delayed? The Owner Operator wife went to the office and talked to Quick Sand General Manager, and he pulled out a long record allegating that there were toooomany incidents and accusing the Owner Operator of many things. When the wife asked him if there where a way to clarify all of those incidents and see if those belong to her husband, the manager called a guy name Scott who is the Safety Coordinator Manager and Scott clarify that those incidents did not belong to her husband. But, the manager still Terminated her husband, allegaing that they cannot loose everything they have for one person....I do not understand his reason, and she either.
People complaints everyday of not receiving their weekly settlement on time. They lie about everything...Feel Sorry for their recruiter..I don't know how she is able to go to sleep everyday!!!! WHY DO YOU STILL HIRE WHEN YOU KNOW YOUR COMPANY DOES NOT HAVE ENOUGH LOADS, AND ALMOST ALL OF YOUR TRUCKS ARE SITTING FOR DAYS...STOP HIRING AND PLAYING WITH ALL THOSE OWNER OPERATOR ILLUSIONS AND HARD WORK. -
Some companies like to hire drivers in case things pick up again, since they have slowed down for some.

I have a friend who works for Surefire. They build fracking equipment. He just went to OH, and WV retrieving equipment. Go Frack has brought their equipment back to Ft.Worth. Scaling back???
Sounds like everyone is charging their stuff and not paying their bills in this biz. Kind of like our Gubmint. -
I know the company I hauled for was sub-contracted to Vertex and was dishonest too. It all started by like this my contract stated $625.00 a week for lease of the trailer. (no air ride, NOT DOT inspected) then I get my check one day and $2500.00 has be taken out! When I called they said "oh we need the whole monthly payment all at once!" Thanks for telling me ! They sent one guy out to the rig WITHOUT A BLOWER on his truck! Do you think the company was inspecting the trucks / trailers.....NO.
VERTEX was telling us every other week "no loads for your company --we are NOT using yall anymore!" The company would beg vertex to let us come back then we were good for another week or so.
They agreed BY CONTRACT to pay demerge but they stole this from us all the time. They CONSTANTLY took out additional fees/ extra % / charged more for factoring than they agreeded to, ran their 4 trucks like crazy whike the o/o sat. The owner WOULD TELL YOU ANYTHING!!!He seemed to like being dishonest.. I knew things were bad when his longtime friends said "I would NEVER work here if Mark was running it, as long as his wife runs it I'm here "
Well finally we were told Vertex was done giving us loads in Texas and that we needed to go to PA! Of course when we were hired we were told "oh man we a ton of work in Texas" But the 4 trucks owner by Mark stayed in Texas. Since our payckecks DID NOT COME THAT WEEK I opted NOT TO go to PA.
Every driver who when up north to PA was sorry later. Once again Mark had lied about every little detail he could.
One O/O quit the week before me because he did not get paid .....the company said all kinds of bad things about the man adding that they fired him! This man was just simply not of the character the described so I called him. This is what he said "Bryan I know your just about a rookie and let me tell ya that is one company you need to RUN AWAY FROM! They did not pay me last week and now are saying they are not going to give my $2500 deposit back on the trailer.." He then went on to explain all the lies he had caught them in
I personally know of three guys who LOST THEIR TRUCKS behind this company.
This is the reality of what happened the owner(a trucker),talked his NEW father in law into buying 40 plus trailers. He collected $2500.00 deposit plus $2500.00 to be a month ahead on thr lease. This is after the $1000.00-$1300.00 on the hoses and the $7500.00- $10,000.00 for the blower. So after he got the deposits from the O/O he used that cash and the cut he took off the invoices for the first month to buy HIMSELF new equipment...NOT PAYING BACK THE FATHER IN LAW!!!!!
So now the father in law wants his money AND HE WANTS IT RIGHT NOW....SO the owner changed the contracts WITHOUT NOTICE OR AGREEMENT FOR THE O/O
Instead of asking us about it he just took the $2500 out of our checks. I said "man this is ######## you cant do thks its breaking the contract your already beating of out of the demerge every chance you get and pocketing it!"
His reply "well you still have enough for fuel money, right" The owner said we o/o were constantly ######## .......I WONDER WHY?!
The company is Sylvester Services in Tyler Texas. It works out the same everytime apparently youll run good for 2-3 weeks then BoooooooooomWestern flyer Thanks this. -
Sounds like the same types of things Grand Transit has been doing to their o/o as well. According to a friend of mine, they are waiting three to four weeks to get paid for loads but they have to pay the fuel the week it is used. I was also told that they have lost the vast majority of their o/o because they kept running company trucks and a couple of o/o around everyone else. They are always getting accused of lying to their drivers and o/o. Sounds like another one to stay away from.

Now I really dont like having to put this out there but so many people have lost money, trucks etc behind this company I feel its needed. Mark is a memeber of this forum and is MORE THAN WELCOME to try and defend his actions. Since he is a memeber is the main reason I will put this out there, because he has a chance to tell his side.
I can provide many numbers of guys who have driven as o/o for this company. All of them are more than willing to provide more insight about what happened.
Now the company was NEW and I know getting a new comoany off the ground can be tough so maybe they have GO THEIR ACT TOGETHER. I'm thinking that after the money was taken out of marks hands that conditions improved.
They stated at first that they would NEVER give me my deposit back . I said "well I have no choice but to seek legal action as you broke the contract. If I do I will also make the lawyers aware of everything else that goes on!"
They considered it for about five minutes and called me back offering me all my money back but added "don't tell anyone we did this!" SURE
THEY actually bought the hoses back at ful, price which they didnt have to do.
Again I will add that hopefully now they are running with more respect for the drivier and o/o. In the coarse of about 3 weeks I know of 11 o/o who quit out of 30(at least they claimed 30) Of the 8 drivers that started the time I did ALL LEFT WITH IN 2 months.
This is why out industry is the way it is.
Soon I hope I start with a company that I can be proud of! There are some out there but I'm wondering what the % is of good to bad?!?!
