$50k/yr for a local job is not bad. Re OTR you are just confused. And if you think there is nothing to it why not apply to Wal Mart and see if they'll take you? Do you already have a $80k/yr local job with excellentbenefits? WalMart drivers who hustle can make over $100k/yr.

This forum - at its best - is about sharing information. I have posted a lot of accurate and first hand info. Instead of trying to drag me into the mud you could raise your standards and make a worthy contribution. Really that is more satisfying than lying and trolling

 

$450 is the phase 1 training wage, it is what I was paid. In phase 2 it's based on mileage and how efficiently you learned to do the job. Some people have bad luck. I did not like what I was getting so got my self transferred to another division where the miles were more consisitent. Then, I wanted to earn more so I got myself transferred to a Dedicated account over a year ago. Now, I do pretty well. When I have 3 years I'll try to get Wal Mart to hire me - that is one of the best driving jobs there is

 

P.S. I got hired out of California - maybe in some other part of the country its a crappier deal - I don't know

 

When i first had the idea of seriously getting my CDL(before my research) i applied to CR England online. In less than about 10 minutes i had already had a reply to bring me to their Indiana training school. That to me was the first red flag, i have never had a reply to a job application that fast, something seemed wrong right off the bat. Needless to say, after some looking and using google as my friend I backed out very quick and told them not to send me a bus ticket, or whatever. So glad i did some research on that! Now i'm going a different "route"....

 

If you're from Cali what are you doing in Sterling IL? Did you relocate out here?

 

This is were I was needed at the time and so far I've stayed because it is working out and ...better the devil you know...
Also, the houses are very cheap, tempting to buy and there are pretty, rural places to live (my preference) close to work. I did not want to do California because I hate L.A. I know they have an account in Oregon and I want to know more about that.

ya I forgot to add that the government subsidizes every student they hire encouraging the onslaught of the industry. Trying to keep everything cheep as ####. I hate to shop at Wal-mart myself if looks like a government outfit. Long lines, under paid people, bad service all together.

Duesy J who's your DM out there???? I had a cool DM from Texas named Patric but that all changed wen they sent all operations to Fontana, that's wen everything went to ####. I tell your DM can make a world of difference.
