Has anyone ever had a problem with their tilt steering? The telescopic portion works ok with the foot pedal that I fixed however the tilt portion never locks in. I can pull it down but have to hold it or it will go all the way back up to a almost horizont position when the telescopic portion is as close as it can be to me.. I cannot believe it is just supposed to be free to go up and down unless I hold it in the position I want. There is a foot pedal next to the brake that when pushed releases the telescoping portion and locks that in. The tilt is supposed to push down and you can tilt it up or down. When you pull back on the pedal it is supposed to lock it in. My steering wheel is just loose and goes up or down with out doing anything never locking in place. Thanks

Shalom to everyone. Was researching why the steering wheel on my 2007 freightliner Columbia moves in both directions meaning up and down and forward and backward (telescopic and tilt) when applying some muscle pressure on the steering wheel without pressing the floor air release button. Steering wheel does not move in these directions without putting some light muscle strength into it but seems that it should be tighter than that so started to research and found this interesting information which might help some of You's. (TRW tilt/telescope steering columns in Columbia, Coronado, and Century Class Conventional vehicles may not have the correct tilt lock force if the column does not hold firmly in place after a tilt adjustment. The castle nut can be tightened to provide the correct force). Attached is the link to the article. God willing will ask my mechanic to tighten the castle nut and see if it tightens up the steering wheel more and update You's in this report on the outcome.

Update. The castle nut was tightened at garage and the issue fixed. The steering wheel is tight now. Simple fix. Shalom
