Bet this makes service cost go up. The dealer network is still going to be needed for delivery prep and fixing broken trucks. Not like back in the 1960’s were you could drive your brand new truck out of the factory yourself. This means if they arn’t making anything in an initial sale then they will have to gouge on service parts and labor. The factory isn’t going to have a parts dept open to the public is it?

Order online, drop shipping to the needed location. Half the time the dealer needs to order the part anyway.

That would be far too simple. Lol.

If my local Pete dealer doesn’t stock anything unless they sell a certain number of that item over the course of 3 months. I’d much rather have a log in for my truck and be able to order parts shipped to my door instead of the dealer ordering the part and then having to drive an hour to go pick it up when it comes in.

Blame the manufacturer, they don't pay #### for warranty work to the dealers.

Its management telling the guy on the floor you've got this much time to get it out the door or kick rocks.

It's also the consolidation of dealers. Truck Country now controls almost all Freightliner dealers in WI, eastern IA, IN, MI, and west OH. Fryda Freightliner controls the rest of OH and west Pennslyvainia. Tag seems to control MO, AR, TX, and west KY/TN.

When you don't have to worry about the competition, service starts becoming an afterthought.
