Hey I have a 2005 Freightliner w/ Detroit engine, I'm trying to find the cause of a air leak and to see why the air compressor is running HOT - it also burns up that small air pressure hose .within 5 day of replacing it. I have replaced my air compressor 3 times in 3 weeks, the governors, the dryers,
Please HELP me find out What could be causing the air compressor to run hot

Maybe it's too late to answer your question but this might help others , there is a hot plug valve inside the compressor, it is replaceable , when it's worn or the gasket becomes weak, you would notice extra heat coming . I would replace the piston too since its easer to do once every parts is taken out.
