I just can't get my mind around a volume based payscale, what are you supposed to do, hand out chips, pretzels, and extra salty nuts to get them to drink more?
You do't have any control on the volume.

Local Budweiser Dist. drivers here in Long Island NY bring in between 75k-85k a year after 5 years!! But your not working there unless daddy gets you in!
-
You hit the nail right on the head. you are exactly correct. LTL local peddling can also be physical but there is very little turn over rate. -
Ltl would be great. But fright hasn't been reliable in south fl for about 2 1/2 years. I wish it was good. I haven't seen a now hiring ad in a long time for ltl down here

A route that delivers to gas stations and drug stores down here will get about $100-$110 a day plus .05 cents a case. Usually between 600-1200 average but can range from 400-2000. On a 2000 case day you will have a spare truck with a swing driver delivering about 600 of those cases and you still getting paid for it. After he is done he will come help you.
A route that delivers to restarants will do between 150-350 cases and 40-100 kegs a day. the pay works like this : $95 a day, 11 cents a case, .25 a keg, and .75 for ever empty keg you pick up. -
i deliver milk, little different but if you arent a baby you can do it. some of these posters here talking about it being so hard are probably afraid to sweat or something. i run double stacks of milk crates on my dolly, everytime i see a different rep from the company i work for they are always amazed at it because i will run with 380+ pounds on my dolly at once. so if you're a hard workin guy, take it. the thing about driving locally is once you get some good experience if you wanna move on you can get into regional, ya know just wait for a nice gig to open up where you arent movin lots of freight, say like stop and shop for a example, a grocery store chain up here those drivers usually just have pallets to unload, and they use a pallet jack and just bring them in. pretty easy if you ask me cuz i've unloaded whole tractor trailers by myself.
maybe check out some milk jobs too, i know garelick here starts out at like 17 an hour or something but the milk routes are really stable, just an idea. good luckdouble_r Thanks this. -
I have seen lots of local jobs advertised on career builder. Kind of crazily (if that is a word) more CDL jobs listed under my bus driving resume than a CDL search.
One company told me, in school, if you do not ask to join them within 90 days of graduation then forget calling them. I'm not sure why that was. It was not one of the lowest rated companies, in fact it was in the top three.
