They are all governed at 65 regardless, but they prefer you keep your fuel mileage 8 or above.

I know this is an old thread and op probably doesn't need this any more, but since other people might have the same questions and since there's a lot of guess work in this thread, I'll respond. Been with prime for 4 years (put in my two weeks notice last week, so not for much longer)

The company does NOT put refrigerators in the trucks for you. You have to buy one yourself. The company will sell you one, though.

As a company driver, speeds are governed at 58 without cruise control, 62 with. Lease operators can go up to 65. I believe owner operators can do whatever but I'm not sure. I've seen prime trucks going over 70 on flat ground. The company trucks will ping your dispatcher if you hold it above 75 for longer that 30 seconds or something like that.

As for micro managing, I've never felt micro managed. Maybe it's different for new drivers today, but in my experience, i didn't talk to my dispatcher unless i needed to and they didn't talk to me unless they needed to.

They'll send reminders all the time, a lot of it's automated and you don't need to respond to it.

The only thing i can think of that's micromanage-y is for some shippers they want you to call dispatch before getting there to receive "special instructions" for that shipper. 9 times out of 10 it's the same script. Trailer interior cleaned, fueled if dropping, air chute not broken, brace load if you can.

If you get the message to do that, you have to do it in order for them to mark your load as picked up. Some dispatchers I've had will just dismiss the requirement but i don't know if they do that any more.

You also need to call dispatch when departing the shipper, telling them everything you already entered in the digital forms you need to fill out. Some dispatchers are cool and will speed you through that, some are jerks that will read the entire script.

The only consequence I've had for not doing that is not being able to refuel until i got it done, as you won't be latched to the trailer in the system until you do. I've waited an entire day after leaving the shipper once or twice.
