Not all VOLVOS have the Air bags on the front axle.
CASCADIA is a typical FREIGHTLINHER , early version had glitches but newr ones are a bit better , the problems with Engines , Regen system , ecte are common to most new trucks , but hearing quite a few ELECTRICAL system problems with the Cascadias.. -
@flatbedder
i heard of eletrical problems i think it was with the wiring in the sleeper i can't remember i also remember reading some kind of problems relating to do with the hood if i remember correctly -
All trucks are going to have goods and bads. The worst thing you can do though is buy a new truck. Go for the ones that have 200,000 on them. This means the previous owner had worked all the bugs out. Been down that road many times and my books have always shown that I have come out way far ahead with a slightly used truck then a new one. Luckily you are a student and won't have to worry about buying a truck for a few years.

Your best bet Ganto will be to try and drive as many different trucks as you can. You will find your favorite one! You will also find the ones you absolutely hate! Have you gone to the different manufacturer websites yet? They all have pictures and virtual tours and stuff of the insides and also sites like the international one lets you custom build them and paint them. Pretty cool! Some different trucking companies also do it too. I know JCT does it on their site.

@chompi
i like the volvo's but the air bags seem to be a problem with the front and rear air ride suspension system iv'e know drivers that drove em they love the front and rear air suspension until theres a problem with the bag. yea i'm gonna have to test alot of trucks to see witch one fits me as they all perform differently. i like the lonestar thats a sweet truck but i seen the price on it and told myslef not any driverdrives that truck. -
I had the whole cab of our Volvo slide off the frame one time! Are you talking about the leaning of the truck? If so what I have been told time and time again is that Volvo does that on purpose! I had a 670 and it wasn't a bad truck. So I bought a 780 D-15 and it was the biggest piece of crap I had ever driven! I called it the lemon80! It was a 780 with the motor from the 880 in it. The motor was strong. Hell like I said it torqued the sleeper off the frame of the truck! It was huge inside too! Only problem was we could not keep it on the road. Another bad thing was that we were one of the first ones to get one of these trucks and they hadn't started making parts for it yet! Everytime it went into the shop it took six weeks to get a replacement. The second day we had it a computer sensor shut it down. All the valves in the truck were bad. Had to have the truck towed 400 miles to Denver because the sensor wouldn't let it run. Turns out after my truck they did a factory recall on all of them for their valves. There was a special tool that was needed to do the job and the dealership told me they were flying the tool back and forth between dealers to try and get the trucks fixed. Eventually our final straw was the truck caught on fire! This was after we had the entire truck rewired because of bad wiring and harness's. Volvo eventually gave us another one, which is a whole other story. They did cut us a check thought to compensate for all of our breakdowns. It was just under $24,000! So I have to admit that Volvo went above and beyond to try to keep us in the piece of crap!

Six weeks without miles - yikes!!

Unfortunately no. Our first brand new Volvo was a company truck and ran just fine.
The brand new Volvo we bought was the one we couldn't keep out of the shop.
