When i read this page, it reads to me like it comes from the factory with the motor installed.

Either way, I would not buy from fitz. Too many cookie cutter options for me. I would get one built by Kustom before any of the others. Reasoning? They design and build the wiring harnesses to connect these older motors to the new trucks. They actually supply them to glider assemblers and in the case of Western Star to the factory.Last edited: Jan 8, 2017
Ruthless Thanks this. -
I finally got my truck out of the shop Saturday after 25 days. I ended up paying for everything out of pocket for the inframe. Fitzgerald says they are going to reimburse us some of the cost but, won't pay for everything since we went with genuine Detroit parts. I guess time will tell...I'm sure they will get back with us in a month or two.
This has been one of worst experiences I have ever had. I will say that Fitzgerald does a great job assembling gliders. I wish I could say the same about their in house engines... -
swaan Thanks this.

Met a driver off loading in Old Castle's Yard in Quakertown, PA that drove for a company that purchased 2 Peterbilt 389's with 12.7 detroits from Fitzgeralds, one had no issues at the time but the second truck had a problem with excessive oil use and became a 1 gal a day problem, which led to engine noise then complete engine failure, during that time fitz told them to keep running until it blew.
After the failure Fitz told the company to get the truck to them asap, they lowboyed it from NJ to Fitzgeralds on a friday afternoon, the engine was replaced and back in NJ before monday morning.
Fitzgerald paid for the lowboy move, hotel and meals for the driver.
I haven't been to Old Castle in some time, but i know a driver that is there often and i will update when i can. -
The cat in the 2012 i have never had on a dyno but according to kurt murry ( mr haney) should be right at 620-630 rwhp.

POWERED GLIDER OPTIONS**
DTNA is the only OEM that offers a choice of factory-installed remanufactured engines in a Glider kit. Choose a POWERChoice Detroit Series 60, MBE 4000, MBE 900 or a Cummins ReCon remanufactured engine for Freightliner Gliders. Detroit Series 60, MBE 4000 and Cummins ReCon remanufactured engines are available for factory installation in Western Star Gliders. Only one remanufactured powertrain component, either the engine or rear axle, may be factory installed.Ruthless Thanks this. -
