Thank you ma'am for the advice. It got bad enough I almost took myself to the ER. Finally shook it off and running good again. One higher ups in the company gave me a call while I was sick. We talked about trailer maintenance and proper pti' s. He also assured me that I will be getting a condo and maintenance report for said truck. That will be a huge relief as I have quite a few people who want to go out with me on the road. My sister being one. I might be a hillbilly but I ain't THAT kind of hillbilly. No way I'm sharing a bed with her. I do have a question though for anyone here that reads this. Can anyone suggest a good accountant out KY?

Glad to hear your doing better on all counts. Sorry can't help you with a CPA in Ky. You might ask on the State thread way down on the main board here. I will see if I can link it for you.

So today it's the second day of ELD. Yesterday hubby saw a side road where they were doing DOT inspection. Today traffic is just not there. He is up in IN right now headed to MI.
I have read on TTR and on Facebook groups a few things that has happened. One many truckers have left, no ifs about it, Two many ELDs locked up yesterday. Time will tell how it all plays out but now the damage is done and OO are leaving which will slow things down to a crawl. Before you think great more money for me think again. Hours of Service will be the Biggest hamper to Every driver trying to make it now. That's the main issue always has been. For those drivers working around ELD know, when crack down came most don't know how to adjust. It will be all about timing now and unloading and loading delays will be much more a factor.
One thing for sure If your thinking of getting into trucking now Don't. Wait a year to see how it all plays out. Megas are going to hurt alot if they are not doing terminal to terminal. OO will be hurt more if they don't have the savy. It's a Business and now the Government is in charge of it all.
It was bad enough when Brokers got involved. But now government wants their cut too. Lots think there's tons of money to be made Off trucking. Problem is it take Money to keep trucking and trucks cost money to be maintained. So all this interference with how a trucker Runs His Business is no good.

Problem now we have the average person thinking they can buy a truck jump in it and drive and make money. NOT! This ain't driving to work or school or the store. Long hauling is Way different. Big rigs take long to stop and way more to turn and backing up oh my. It's not just getting on the interstate and driving forward, any idiot can do that. But think again of taking that big rig into a small town and backing up across 4 lanes of traffic into your house door. Seriously that does happen and more than you think. Dock doors are not most of the time at big warehouses some are in small tight area in residential areas. So don't think your your normal day to day care driving is just like trucking it's not. Big difference of driving 10 Hours a day to driving two hours total a day.
Hubby thinks many took this week off since Christmas is next Monday. Holidays are such a pain for truckers. Everyone please be safe.

I have only worked over Christmas Day once before, and only because ol’ JB couldn’t get me home. I remember them offering a $200 bonus for all drivers who stayed out over Christmas.
I asked about that, they said I didn’t qualify because I wasn’t “scheduled “ to be out.
I agree. Holidays are a pain

I agree with everything you said there Cybercat. It is a tough job. Elds are a cruel task master. I find myself sleeping in warehouse lots more often than not. And yes I have had to back up to a residential garage more than once. I'm running holidays because getting home this year is not financially feasible for me. I always remember to thank the folks working their holidays at the truck stops and restaurants to make our time out here more comfortable. I hope your hubbie gets home safely and in plenty of time to relax and enjoy.

He will be home with a load going after Christmas. Truck is running well.

We just heard this from a reliable source. CHRobision is in trouble. Not enough drivers to handle the work. They have over 3000+ loads sitting from last we heard. Well, they did it to themselves with being greedy and taking too much money. They are one of the worst paying brokers in that they don't pay out most of the freight cost but keep it. So if a shipment from shipper goes for say $7 as mile you are lucky to see as a driver $1.20 from it more likely $1.00 when you Should as a driver be seeing $5.00 from said freight.
So CHR is hurting bad now that few will deal with them and it's the holidays plus ELD kicked in. There Will be Major backlash from this all. They will not be the only ones. January will be bad for everyone. I predict shortages in stores.

It wasn't that long ago that Coke Cola had delivery issues. Some may not know of this one but I experienced it here local. I was at a TSC when I first saw it and learned about it. Cash register said they had not got a soda shipment in 3 months. They kept placing orders but no delivery. Even food store were short on product. I personally don't drink it but did notice it missing. This was here in TN in our small town. Coke Cola plant is barely two hours away it's also there distributor. Now what happens when it is more than just come soda? Things will take longer to get to stores.

Yeah but you forget to remember that the Megan started the ELD process for everyone so they won’t be hurt by it. They have ran it for years. It’s not going to be all doom and gloom. Too many exemptions for things other than dry van or reefer or general freight.

Many megas still can't run there companies effective either. Running terminal to terminal is way different than shipper to consumer. That's where the issue comes in. Hours of Service is a major problem when it comes to ELDs. Even though the Megas have been on it doesn't mean it works. Problem now it's enforced to run correctly not with allowance that they use to have. Which means following HOS correctly.

Everyone is short on drivers. Many have left this month for good. Megas are always short on drivers for few pay good. Swift alone pays 24 cents a mile long haul. I know that for fact. There not the only cheap company either. People can't survive on that and the company cares less for there making all this money for there pockets. But they Forget No driver no MONEY.

There are no exemption. Bull haulers didn't get it, not FedEx either not one mega got it. This is one Major problem with truckers your clueless to real facts because your not paying attention because your too busy and think it won't happen. All the while someone not a driver is doing all this too you. Once you find out it's too late.

In all my years I have never seen a professional Organization back stab the folks they are supposed to help and support. But ATA has and is still doing it. All for their own gain not for the truckers gain.

Megas are trying to run off the OO but Megas can't handle all the freight. Megas are small in number when it comes down to hard facts. There are more OO than all the drivers in Megas. That is a proven Fact. Unfortunately because OO are so busy with their Business and what makes a OO personality wise, they can't and won't get involved with politics. But that's what it has come down too now. Politics ATA writing rules for truckers and they are Not truckers. Most Megas now CEO are not truckers either anymore. Family sons or grandsons took over and never drove. They are Out Of Touch with the industry of Driving. It shows in how they runs their Company now under paying there drivers while there playing golf.

All this plays a part in what is happening Now. ELD is a logging device But when it's used with HOS it's more. When dispatchers are using to force drivers to drive when there tired it's wrong. Yes, it happens you just need to read the personal accounts of it happening with those Megas.

When shippers get a shipment out late for whatever reason but it still expecting to be there on time it can't be done. We all know this. Traffic is a pain too many delays. Then HOS has a factor and if you go the a weigh station another delay while they check your logs. If you have something off you sit. So more delays product late to receiver, which they take forever to unload you because your late. They think there in control too but there hurting themselves also. So all this delays means what products not on shelves. That's when it counts That's when it get noticed That's where it makes a difference. When consumer Sees it's Not there then it will start to change for drivers. For it will take shortages to get public to notice which will put pressure on government to change things right for drivers. I have said it before. Drivers can't do it public can.

I think prices will go up some. Brokers will have to pay more to drivers but that might not be a issue for Megas. They barely can handle the contracts now. Every single Mega is brokering their own freight because they Can't handle it. This is known fact to many OO but not to company drivers. So what is already a shortage is now more so. Not enough drivers = late delivery once again.
