Honestly you’ve put more money into that truck than you would have a newer one. You’ve been more in the red than anything. But some people think that just because it’s an older truck and doesn’t need an ELD, that it’s somehow better. Keep dreaming.

Maybe not getting as much out of it right now, but I don’t see where they put more into it other than time (or lost time) seems all the repairs are covered, it only cost time, and a lower rate while it’s paid off. Yes, sitting will put anyone with a payment in the red on a given timeframe, but it’s fast to jump back out.
In December they too will have failed into ownership the wrong way.

Those tax numbers were posted. I will never understand why buying outright new is way to go. How many fail that way. Let's see first you have to have money down, pass credit check sign on with company that pays a $1 mile plus learn how to run the business and where to go for repairs ect. Maybe even have all that new crap on truck hat is Supposed to be for safty but really is a Hazzard. Then after running for said company you have a big balloon payment to pay it off, which most don't have so they did all that and still no truck.

Then what we did with older truck new reconditioned engines. No down payment .90 empty $1.20 more or less full. None of those new gizmos. No balloon payment, all major engine part replaced new plus all the experience of running in new environment. One must remember that all mega company drivers have zero experience with brokers. They all terminal to terminal drop and hook, week on 2 days off collect check end of week. This is why most fail because they have not Learned the other way of driving and the real business of OO. Doing what we are doing helped alot that way into true OO.

New truck is not all that if you can't pay for it or can't pay to have it fixed. We will be moving on after we get title.

All terminal to terminal drop and hook is a small portion of companies. You have a very narrow view of what you think this business is.

I really don't get why folks think we are doing things wrong. We will have title at end of year. We do have plans on moving on to full OO but first stoping at LS. Our plans are just that ours and we don't need to have them justified.

Actually one plan we do have is in 2019 or 20 putting engine into a new body. Maybe a Corando or something else. Hubby likes long nose trucks can't stand the short nose even though they have sharper turn radius. It all personally preference.

You read wrong. I said Mega company not all. Stoping making statement on partially words I write. Obviously not all companies are not drop and hook. But your major Megas do most of that and drivers from them don't understand other ways when trying to buy own truck. There is way more to trucking than company driving and collecting a check.

OO is a Business and one controls their own way of doing things. What we do, where we go, when we go, how much we get paid is All Our choice. No One will be able to tell us what, when or how much after all said in done. WE will be responsible for everything we know this. If your not as we know you are not why comment.

Do you consider Swift a mega? ... Because I had complete control of my truck and had the option of working directly with a broker negotiating my own rates.

Do you have that now, with your company? Do you have complete control and say as far as when, what and where maintenance is performed? Are you currently negotiating rates directly with a broker?
