WJ, did you call Jonathan Fri evening? I was standing in front of him when he was on the phone with someone about the B'ham load. Had others but they wouldn't work out.

Sitting here at Boars Head, man does parking suck and so do these people walking around while your trying to get into the bullpen. I hit my 14 in 2 hours but have a pickup in NJ 35 miles away. 7 trucks already here so you know what that means. The fun part is my 2nd stop pick up is at 1030. Not making that. Lets see a 2am live unload delivery with a9am live load and 1030 live load. What were they thinking? Thanks RM for the tip.

Man 'o man. Took Boars Head 4 hours to unload. Was quarter after 7 so I clicked that bad button and headed to my first pickup in Perth Amboy 35 miles away. Got to listen to the nice lady in the box cal my name a couple times. Guess next time I get to the yard i'll take my pen in hand to go see Scott. Then come to find out this is a driver/lumper load. Yay me. I called Kimberly to let her know, she said to get a comcheck. I think she was real surprised when I told her no and i'll do it. Was only 10 pallets. The hardest part was the floor since it is a -10 load. I like the looks I get when I'm in there with shorts and a t-shirt. Just like in the winter months I had to tarp a load and half way through I take my sweat shirt off. Hey I worked in a freezer during high school and went to college up north, spent 4 years in Watertown, NY and 3 in Alaska

Sorry to see you go runningman, but if I had a chance at a good local job, I would be out the door in a heartbeat. Not that this isn't an ok place to work. Most of the time. I was just telling my old man I only have 1200 miles this week. WTH?!?! Next load gives me 2200. Been a sucky week. Got the best load all week after this delivery. Pick up at P&G in Lima OH deliver to Mechanicsville. Heavy as heck, though. Gives me 2100 for the week. SMH....

Well laying my head at my delivery. QC said 0900 but I'm on my 10 until 1300 so i'll get up at 1030 and see if it is a self unload. My second pickup was a pallet exchange. Hmmm, I have no pallets. I have to bit 7 or break it down and floor load it. Well I dont have $56 in my pocket and I don't have any comchecks. 630 cases. Luckily the shipper had a comcheck he gave me. Loaded my 7 pallets and headed down to Richmond.

Okay 3 out of 4 directions were no good. Two totally off and one close. I'll be starting that directions section up as soon as I get to a computer. Had to leave mine with the wife so she can remote into work since I run Linux on the other computer. Just trying to think if I want to start it here or create a separate web page.

RC (sorry it took so long to reply)

JohnBoy is right.... It depends on how things go. Typically, you can count on a huge difference from day to day. And it also depends on your delivery appointment. Generally, if you have two days to run 1200 miles, you ARE going to have to average 600 miles per day. Common sense, huh? But let's say you have 3 days to get there..... yep, you are going to average 400 miles per day. So, in essence, it depends on what kind of deadlines you are given. That is the bottom line.

Last week, I had to do some SERIOUS calculating, being I was running a bunch of rescue relays (that's what I call them), and I was working totally off of recaps. The good part about it was that I got some great miles. The down side to it was I had to flip my sleep schedule 3 times. I took a pic of my previous 6 days from my QUALCOMM, which will make you say "How did you log those hours?". Simple, the miles, and trips span past the midnight hour. But the miles average out to 580 per day (because the 26th, I sat in a truckstop with no hours, waiting for my recap to catch up with me).

The long and the short of it is that the ONLY thing that gets your daily average up is that kind of dispatches that you get, and the deadlines you have to meet. You have to be real careful about how many hours you run each day. If you AVERAGE 8.5 hours of driving per day, you will never have to recap.... you can run every day indefinitely. And let's say in that 8.5 hours, you average 63 mph (rough average) you will do 535.5 miles per day, which will give you 3748.5 miles in a 7 day period.... 7500 miles in a pay period. Now multiply that times your cpm (cents per mile).... surprising, huh? and you don't have to kill yourself to do it.

Don't worry about what your "all-time high" is.... worry about your average... that's where the money is. RC, I'm not directing that at you (I know you know how to do the numbers) I am just making a general statement.

    Y'all be safe!!!!!

Made it home for the weekend!!! Yaayyyy.

Picked up a load that delivers in Myrtle Tuesday morning so I will get a long weekend.

All in all, a great two weeks (it's what you make of it). A few frustrating moments, but nothing that couldn't be overcome.

Jason, you're gonna be missed buddy. Like RC, I am glad you found a gig that will fit your world a little better, but that still doesn't take the sting away from you leaving. But trust you will be hearing from me from time to time. You're a heck of a guy with a lot to offer other drivers.... even though you always sound grumpy on the phone. But hey, at least we were able to get some Ralph's BBQ to you to sample (hehehehehehe)

Well Sally talked to me about becoming a trainer on Friday. Giving it the weekend to decide. Used to do it at another company and enjoyed it. We'll see what happens....

Y'all have a great Labor Day weekend, and please be extra safe out there ! ! ! !
