With a step you can haul container, which is better if your near ports. Florida is a bad state to leave and get freight out of.

I'm leased on to a tanker company. I dropped in Tampa, got the trailer cleaned, dead headed to north Carolina to get a load .

I own my own truck and trailer (flatbed) leased to a company with just a handful of trucks, I’m paid 85%.

My girlfriend owns her own truck and trailer (dry van) with her own authority.

We both are in San Antonio and we both are home every weekend most of the time. We both make the same money give or take on average. In the summer I do a bit better because of flatbed rates and she does decent all year.

My vote is your own authority. I only stay leased because I truly trust and like the guy I run for and I enjoy not dealing with brokers, much more relaxing. If he ever quit, I would do my own authority immediately.

Your 85% leased onto someone pays you the same money, as your girlfriend whoi has her own authority? Either you got a real good thing, or something wrong on her end.

Go yo unigroup and haul sticks for 4 months during the season. Then switch over to spec-com for the rest of the year.

It’s all the same really. Once she uses quickpay or factoring and pays a higher insurance rate it about averages out with my 15% because of the group insurance rate. Plus flatbed rates are sometimes better.
