Check with your home states community college and vo tech schools CDL training programs.

My state has a very good program and is only $1,600 if you pay full price.
But most people go for a big discount or free.
I dunno how people rack up so much student loan debt. When i attended vo tech school, I was the only one paying for it out of my pocket, every single other person on my class was on a freebie handout program.
Some even got paid mileage for gas money and got free lunch and got money for a babysitter if they had kids.
It’s a 350 hour class , takes about 12 weeks. And they are third party testers. Which means the dmv trusts them to give you the road test.
You have to get your medical card, and do the written test at the dmv and get your learners permit but if you pass the class you get the paperwork to go get your CDL learners permit changed to a real CDL .
The best place I’ve found to get the medical card is CVS pharmacy clinic

For flatbed, Melton is the only one of those that hires in 48 states. Check hiring area for any company to be sure. Maverick and TMC don't hire too far west.

There’s some company that I think does flatbed for Lowe’s and claims they can have you home every weekend and you can park at any Lowe’s on the weekend .

    1) It is hard to find loads out of Florida. Or that is what dispatch used to tell me when I asked to go there in the winter instead of PA for the millionth time. If you live in an area a company will get you home.

    2. The companies I drove for will only send you home to your current address.

    3. You can go out of state, get your CDL bring it to Nevada and they will just convert it to a CDL. There will be a fee. Only excpetion is if you get one out of state then go back to IL. They make you redo everything.

    4. It wont affect the pay scale quicker, but most comapnies insurance programs have a minimum requirement before they agree to insure you.

Thanks for your service. Good luck. Keep us updated.
