Dana Spicer 1200I steer axle. Cast iron standard hubs. This is on a 1997 Peterbilt 379 VN437246. Some Dana literature states use an approved drive axle lubricant 80w90 mineral or 75w90 syn. Peterbilt literature states non driven hubs use Synthetic 50 transmission lube. Peterbilt service manager says synthetic 50 as well.

    Which is the better choice?

I use 75-90 Synthetic is steer hubs, trans, and both drives. Have used in multitudes of trucks for over20 years.

    Definitely Synthetic over conventional oils.

I do know Pete does say 50 wt. on steers.

I also use 75w90 synthetic in steer hubs and drives.
