    "How Expungements in Nebraska Work
Expungement is generally limited to juvenile convictions and cases where no conviction resulted from an arrest in the state of Nebraska. Nebraska’s Board of Pardons can grant pardons upon discretion which has the effect of sealing records and restoring certain rights.

    Process of Criminal Record Expungements
To obtain an expungement in the few circumstances where it is allowed under Nebraska law, file the appropriate forms with the court and attend an expungement hearing.

To obtain a pardon, download the application from the State Board of Pardon’s website, obtain letters of reference or recommendation, make sure that you have paid all fines and have no outstanding legal issues and make sure that restitution is completed. The Board will hold a public hearing where they will consider all evidence in favor of and against granting the pardon. The Board has discretion to grant or deny pardons on a case by case basis."

Looks Like you could try the board of pardons.

Also, order your file from Hireright.com, it's free. See if they even have anything on you. I bet many companies only go that far.

Some thing to ask these companies, if they tell you your unhireable and they say on their website that they only go back so many years. Ask them why they give conflicting information, suggest to them also that they may possibly be discriminating against you, as the Feds. recently ruled that companies cannot soley use a felony as an excuse to not hire you, unless they can prove a security risk as a result. Canada is a different story. Sure it might piss them off, but tell them that you would appreciate an answer. Also, advise your local Labor Dept. that these companies are giving misleading and conflicting information, put it in writing and give them specifics.

I have a 20 yr old felony, as others have mentioned look at smaller companies as well. Your in Omaha, there are several fleets in your area besides Big Blue. Crete/Sunflower/Hunt (not JB Hunt), Hill Bros. and several others. Though I have a very good job, 13 yrs and 1.3 million miles exp., I was recently turned down by a company because they claimed I can't get HAZMAT or a TWIC card. When I showed them that I have HAZMAT endorsement already, and that I am able to get a TWIC card, they ran out of excuses. I politely told the guy that knowing they are playing a game with me, I wouldn't want to work for them now and that knowing this I would do my best to steer others away from them as well. He was not a happy camper.

Thanks to those giving valuable info!! I really appreciate it. Thanks also to DickJones for pointing out the obvious. Unfortunately, I didn't live my life like Jesus did and there are many things I regret, I will say that my experiences have molded who I am and I don't hide from it........Congrats though on being able to be so self-righteous!!

Dont give up, love. I personally know someone with a felony conviction over 20 years ago. They provided a letter of explaination with their background check and got hired at a very reputable company. It's not impossible :biggrin_25520:

I agree with you 100%. People make stupid decisions sometimes. Not fair to punish them for it for the rest of their lives, especially when they've spent their lives trying to make up for it. Sheesh
