fuel filter restriction

    What is normal restriction for an MXS Accert? Mine runs 5-6# with new filters. Seems high to me. Also, can you run the Cat "strainer" type primary on the Accerts? Had that filter on my previous truck and really liked it. I've been told they don't flow enough for the Accerts, want to know if it's true or not.

    5-6 sounds normal to me if your running Cat 256-8253 primary ( 10 mic ) I believe the strainer aka " Rock catcher " is around 100 + mic . FWIW I'm at 1-2 in running a Davco with 50 mic cartridge on an MXS with no fittings tighter than 45 deg.

    Which Davco do you run, the 382? I've been considering one, couple of local guys like them as well.

    Yes, 382 with Fleetgaurd 19729 50 mic cartridge. I've had good luck with them. flows 180 GPH and Davco has kit to increase flow to 250 GPH should that be needed.

    Fleetguard FS 1212 or Baldwin 1212 are 20 mic so 2-3 sounds right. rather than putting the strainer on you could try Fleetguard FS 1023 ( 100 mic ) fit same head as Cat 256-8753

    I have the screen type filter. Mine runs 3 to 4 with hot fuel, around 5 cold.
