Because you go into a closed station at night or a so so to a bad neighborhood to deliver your fuel..some just get a kick out of hurting people..and there you are busy doing what you do..and I've never carried money other than maybe lunch money.not a payment for a COD.

Do some companies allow employees to carry a weapon just in case ?

I doubt it. Discharging a firearm near fuel, not good.

I carry a claw hammer and a crow bar. They check trucks every now and then at one rack to see if we have weapons. He asked me if my crow bar was a weapon, I said no, I use it to open stubborn lids at stations. I do use it for that but it's also a little something for protection too.

also that fire extinguisher works well ..aim for the face..but as you said most racks are real touchy about anything that could cause a spark..

I agree. Every one I've been to has a no weapon policy.

Buckeye down here checks every now and then. They just look in the cab and check your twic card.

I'm a company driver but it really depends where and what company you work for.

I take home about $850-950/week after taxes.

Howlong have you been doing it ? Do your pay raise with your experience or it dont matter you have been there for a year or 15 years ?

I've been here over a year.

I had 2 years tractor trailer experience which is the minimum they require.

You get experience pay the longer you're with the company. It's a percentage that gets added to each load.

With this company each load pays everyone the same. If I haul a load to gainesville I get about $64. If someone who has 15 years experience they'll be paid $64 for the same load. The only difference is experience pay which would be added to the pay of each load.
