Awesome thanks! I just spoke with MJ yesterday which makes me think I may be blacklisted. Recruiter called and said they had openings, and when he pulled up my application, he says unfortunately he can't get a green light to move forward.

I'm assuming it's because they share the same yard with Pilot where my last incident happened. Most likely word got around.

But forsure I will definitely try the others. Big Thanks for the info.

I must have missed this reply, glad I caught it now. You are spot on with everything.

Yeah once in 20 years lol that's true pretty much. I made all these screw ups in just 3 years.

Skully out, absolutely right. When I had the skully out, all I had to do was drain dry. But me being a baby and a rookie, trying to be all honest like they told me, I get on the phone and call safety lol. Jeeze ‍

Spot on with the 10% at the loading rack. I'm carded at almost everywhere due to being at these companies.
The 10% additive first is where I screwed. Pressing clear and restarting a compartment to correct the gallon amount.
Unloaded the additive again. So in a 900 gallon compartment I ended up with 140 gallons of the additive.

So hopefully a if a new fuel hauler is reading this he can learn from it.

    There are 2 options if you're at a rack that adds the 10% additive first, you've already started loading a compartment, but you realize it's the wrong compartment which will cause you to dome out;
Option 1. Press stop, don't touch anything else, call the T.O

Option 2. For more experienced - Wait until your compartment reaches the desired gallons, press stop, move the riser over to the next compartment, press start and continue loading.

While MJ is a small company, they might be a little picky with their hiring. Don’t let that get to you. I’m off for the next couple days, but when I go back, I’ll keep a note of the bottom tier fuel companies and get back to you. If you can work at one of them for a couple years, the big companies will give you a chance again I think.

Hauled fuel for 3 1/2 years so have done plenty of loading at the fuel depot, these days with computerized set ups its almost impossible to overfill a compartment. Unless when you do your pre-load set up you enter the wrong amount in although most trailer setup are already programed into the computer and won't even allow you to enter to much, I used to run what is known as a B-double a half size trailer plus one full size, the front tanker only had 3 compartments we'd depending on densities put in about 8300 litres in the first compartment, about 2500 in the middle, and another 8300 in the back compartment. Usually around 18 000 lts, with about 32000 litres in the back trailer spread over 4/5 compartments. The only time I ever over filled my compartment was when for some reason the pumps stopped and I had to restart, for some reason I mixed up the sequence getting the compartments mixed up, thus because one had more fuel in it before the pumps stopped when I restarted the computer naturally thought it was going into compartment 1 when in fact it was going into compartment 3, causing an overfill and even though the system is designed to switch off in the case of an overfill, it still went like about 200 litres over and the only way to fix it up is to manually empty out the excess till its back down to the proper safe level, as I had to load the back trailer the system would not allow me to move till I used a bucket to tip off the excess into the "slops" that took like forever. However we were not dismissed for doing this as it can be a common mistake, what the fuel depot will do is put a temporary halt on your loading till you retrain you have to do a few practice refills under supervision get another assessment done and passed out again. Using your mobile phone is almost as bad as lighting a match and anyone that hauls fuel knows that is not something you do while unloading. Can the phone call not wait till your done unloading? My phone would stay switched off while loading or unloading that way I was not tempted to use it.

Ok awesome, thanks a bunch. I applied at Elite and I'm planning to call Merit back tomorrow.

I also alright signed up and completed orientation for Knight Transportation (regional port) position, just incase I can't find a fuel hauling gig before having to pay rent. The good thing is Knight letting me postpone my start date for another week. So if I can get an offer by next week, I'll call Knight and withdraw. If I can't get anything then I'll start with Knight by the end of next week.

Big thanks for the help it's much appreciated of the whole community here. I'm learning how important it is to spend more time on this site as a driver. Because it's really a blessing to have youguys to talk to and get the best advice from.

Well overfilling I think can happen if you're moving to fast/not paying attention. For example with a T&T at some Chevron racks, you connect the scully on truck first and start it. 3800 gallons. While it's loading you connect the trailer and start them. 3 compartments. 1800, 900, and 1800. Let's say you thought you started the 3800 for the truck but it didn't actually start.
So then you go back to the meter, and now you have the option to choose to start either the trailer or the truck first. Thinking you've already started the truck, you then are moving fast, not paying attention, and actually select the trailer which will attempt to load 3800 gallons in an 1800 gallon compartment.

You skully out and your lane won't let you load again. We'll if you're a rookie like I was, you'll end up calling safety and getting yourself fired. If you're experienced, you keep your mouth shut, drain and unload the compartment until that top sensor light goes out, and you're good to go.

But like another person mentioned earlier, most drivers make these mistakes but rarely. It's all about maturity and experience in this field as I'm learning.

Worst case keep bugging these fuel companies while you’re at knight and when the economy turns around one of them will give you a chance i’m thinking by the end of the year or early next year. But in the meantime, a few more came to me you can try Pacific tank lines, top fuel, and huntaway
