Good idea on the weighing. I'd try for a reimbursement for the weigh but wouldn't cry about eating the $13 to have peace of mind.
However, these days a fuel hauler with just a two axle trailer does not seem that common. Maybe it is just the area I'm in.
Most likely OP has a higher GVW limit.
(Provided the company got the higher limit on the registration / license plate.)
But I don't know for sure. So, how many axles and what is on the registration for the tractor.
Let's see what OP says.
Fuel Haulers maximum gallons

We run KW T880 day cabs with mostly Polar 9200 gallon capacity aluminum trailers. We had a truckstop we deliver to with a Cat scale let us weigh a couple of times for free. We run 7500 gallons of diesel which puts us a little over 78k. We can run 8800 gallons of gas in Delaware which puts us a little over 79k, but we usually only run 8500. We cut back in Maryland a couple of hundred gallons because they like to use portable scales and say we're over on an axle.

My day cab Volvo with Polar 5 hole trailer is about 27k empty. I haul 8600 gas or 7500 ULSD, that keeps me real close to 80k.
