Any decent companies that hire recent grads in the Memphis, TN area? I am considering this as an option and I’m not too familiar with any companies or their reputations.

Most fuel haulers require 2 years experience.

You could probably find local job or regional as a newbie. Go to places and apply in person.

No company will put a newbie hauling fuel. NO insurance company will allow it. You have to get tanker experience hauling other loads before they'll let you drive a proverbial bomb. Some tanker companies will hire newbies but not for fuel. Think along the lines of food grade loads or dry bulk or other chemicals but no one will put you right into a fuel truck. Many tanker drivers start on water or waste trucks.

Start with a tanker job to get experience.....
i'm sure you mean well but anyone who gives keys to a truck full of fuel to a inexperienced driver is an IDIOT ! And that driver could prove it at some innocent persons expense.....

Superior is a tanker company that has a terminal in Memphis. Not sure what their requirements are.but they are local to you.

Try these companies with terminals in Memphis & West Memphis, to get tanker experience; they all have online applications. Some companies waive the "X" amount of experience required, if they need drivers.:

    Trimac
    Schneider
    Prime
    Superior Carriers
    Praxair
    Lindsey Transport
    Quality Carriers
    Miller Transporters
    Wooten Transports
    Transport Service

My dad went from hauling bulk mail (1st driving job) to hauling fuel (2nd driving job) for a small independent company.

He had no tanker experience hauling dry bulk or chemicals, water etc. is what I was getting at. But you are correct, getting a tanker job without a year or 2 experience is pretty much a no go. I'm sure there are rare exceptions like say your daddy, brother, or best friend owns a trucking company.
