Fuel permits needed bobtailing, "not for hire"?

    You will see these comments. I bought a truck in New Mexico a couple of years back, got the temp registration, the company I leased on with said the same thing: "Got the temp registration, just come on over." Joplin, MO. Everything was fine until the Oklahoma DOT officer cited me for failure to procure a fuel permit and a trip permit. $150 each, paid on the site.

    You can/should get online, contact the DOT in the states on your route, and ask them. Most of them will fax/email a permit after your pay online with a card.
