fuel problem

check your crossover pipe. crimped? damaged some how? plugged?

The new systems are top draw, and do not have cross over lines.
They suck from both tanks, and then return to both tanks as well.I do not know a whole lot about these systems, but there is a vent on the tanks as well. The one could be plugged and and it would be sending all the return fuel to the right tank.
It has a splitter valve in the center where the return and suction lines are connected. These are under the cab. Maybe this is faulty.
Maybe HEAVY D will have an opinion. I am sure he will check in soon and let you know what he thinks.

How old of a truck is this?. I have seen older trucks with taps on the bottom of the tanks.

my Volvo has shut off valves on the right tank. If the return line is open, but the draw line is closed, it will do what you are experiencing. It will also do this when very cold and a line jells. At very low temps I shut the valves and run on 1 tank. The fuel proportioning valve may also be bad, and cause this kind of problem. It controls where the return goes, as there is no longer a crossover.

Thanks for the help, people! Its a 2001 w/a 465 cummins. After going over all hoses and connections, found that the lines were crisscrossed at the draw tee and return tee.Main fuel line from left tank connected to return tee ,return line on left tank connected to forward draw tee. Switched them and drove 10 miles and tanks leveled out and gauges are reading true now. Hopes this heps any others.

so I bet you have a new tee, and they mixed up the lines when they installed it.?
