Has anyone ever heard of a company charging their company drivers a fuel surcharge... I know they pay the surcharge to their owner operators but I have never heard of them charging their own driver?

The shippers pay the FSC . The carriers don't pay an FSC . They only pass it along and the O/O should get 100% .
Ole Timer Thanks this. -
yes,
may trucking company has charged some drivers a fuel surcharge.Ole Timer Thanks this. -
They may have charged drivers something but it wasn't an FSC and if it was deducted from their pay it was illegal if they didn't have signed authorization from the driver .
Ole Timer Thanks this. -
Huh, really? and the driver stayed on? Unless he was selling fuel and way under fleet avg,

I believe the OP is referring to people going over their pre determined idle time percentage and being charged for it. I know some companies were doing this for a while, but I'm not sure that they are now. I've not seen many posts pertaining to this lately.

gotcha, that makes more sense.bullhaulerswife Thanks this. -
No Im refering to the fact that this company I just hired on as a driver is deducting the fsc from my check as a company driver. when I ask him about it he said it was standard procedure and all companies did it wether they told us about it or not... I draw a percentage of the load as pay and I get a print out of this but have no way of controling the fsc. I have never heard of this and as I just started with this company wasnt sure. I know it took a BIG chunck ($600.00) out of my check but at the same time I have a base pay of $650.00 a week so I guess he's just turning it around and giving it back... Thank you for your reply and input

Ole timer, I have to admit, I am scratching my head on this one? Unless this is some devious plan to show the driver got the FSC so the company shows less gross for a tax purpose? and then the company takes it back?
Are you getting paid percentage, mile? (never mind, just reread that you are percentage) AND you are NOT an O/O, LPO, just a company driver in their equipment, right?
Must be some form of new math. LOL All I can come up with is that they are figuring your percentage on GROSS and THEN taking the FSC back?
Something to keep in mind thou, as fuel prices go up YOU will BE HAVING MORE MONEY TAKEN FROM YOUR CHECK. -
Some company's also put it on paper that they lease you the truck for $$% this could be what there doing keeps them from paying workmans comp and unemployment
