Back around 2005 they caught some people doing just that.
Had a van with fuel drums and a vane pump mounted inside the van, a hole cut in the floor, park over the tanks and suck out the fuel.

Sounds about right….. I topped off this morning here in Commiefornia and the clerk mentioned that good thing I came in early cuz it’s going up .50 by noon. It was at 6.19 when I fueled. o_O:confused::(

I had fuel stolen twice in CA. First time at the rest area on Hwy 58 by Edwards AFB and the second time at Bruce's in Bakersfield. That was back when fuel prices's spiked. Best to not fill up and the park at the same place overnite in a place where your tanks are accessible. i learned to fill up before i left in the morning.

Fuel theft is common in Europe, especially around big cities, most trucks there use the locking fuel caps but it doesn't prevent it

November, 12th the truck was stolen. One of 6 that were stolen from my dealers direct customers the same week.
Fuel was stolen a month or two prior and fuel wasn’t even expensive then!

That crap hole truck stop in Hattiesburg someone stole my fuel. Close to the building too. Years ago.

It’s only going to get worse with these Brandon prices.

If tire and oil prices go up like fuel I think we're going to see some major thefts. We used to leave all of our tires outside under a breezeway where they could be easily accessed. We're locking up inside the shop in a little room we built. Steel sides and walls. Steel doors. We call it the vault.
We also put the more commonly stolen items...alternators, fuel pumps, PTO pumps, and gallon oil jugs in there. We've haven't had a break-in in a long time but I think we might see them now.

This is why I put gasoline in mine, they won’t know what hit them when their truck doesn’t run!
