well since you decided to stop reading at the first chance to call BS instead of reading the whole thread and LEARNING the answer to your question, I supose i can repeat myself for the 100th time on this forum.
I went to a Tech High School for Aircraft Technology, when you finish (Graduate the Program) you take your A&P Test to get your A&P. I Graduated and Got Both My High School Dimploma From Mt Mansfield Union High School and my Diploma from Burlington Technical Center in June 2007 at the age of 17, I turned 18 in september a few months later.
Then instead of following my trade in Avation i decided to work as an Auto Mechanic instead. And since Drum brakes are drum brakes, and piston engines are piston engines, and A&P's have to go through VERY STRICKED Federaly controled schools in order to get the License and everything has a 0 Tolerance i had no problem getting a job.
I am NOT a ASE Certified Auto Mechanic just like 60+% of the "Mechanics" in this country.
Sorry to ruin your chance to call BS.....

The last video that is 1 brave chick. Why do you say that shes brave? Her car is off, so what does that make you by leaving yours running, brave or STUPID?
I said I would hit the E stop when I was unloading fuel at the gas station & I will If you won't do as you are required to do & follow the rules.
And I do that for your protection too. Do you really want to take the chance & have my 15000 gallons of gas blowing up because YOU can't follow the rules?
Only other option is for me NOT to deliver the gas & when the place runs empty they can call me back. But there's no saying when I can get back, so the station WILL be asking to follow the rules, still refuse & get the pump shut off on you.
"1 in billions" you say, if that was true it would be a little harder to find the video's of them.
You Said "Yes static can start a fire. Does that make you fell better." I'm not putting anything here so I can feel better. Just trying to pass along some knowledge, and just maybe keep keep somebody from a lot of pain or worse. If you don't like what I've put out here in my post, Too Bad for you, take a look at how many times I have been thanked in the posts I have made. So I guess I'm not so bad.
Put me on ignore if you want I don't care. But maybe others ARE learning something. -

So because don't think its a big deal, your going to put not only yourself but others at risk?
In boating you have a 1 in 10,000 or 1 in 1,000 (or somthing like that i cant remember the numer but it wasnt big) chance of Blowing up when you crank it up (Gas Engine boats, Inboards and Inboard/Outboards). So boats are equipt with Blowers. You are suposed to always Open the dog house, sundeck, engine compartment or whatever you have AND turn the blowers on for at least 2 minutes to remove the gas fumes before starting the boat. 98% of the people i see around boats do this. I ALWAYS do it.
Most people shut there cars off at the pump, AND there is a BIG sticker telling you to shut it off.
and yet.....you'd like to remain ignorant
American Truckertrucker_101 Thanks this. -
Cars use catalytic converters which gets very hot and are low to the ground. In the event you or someone should spill fuel, those catalytic converters could and have ignited the spilt fuel.
Vapors from gasoline is more flammable or explosive than the liquid. If the cat doesn't ignite spilt fuel, sparks from the alternator could do the trick.
As for diesels, unless it's a Hazmat, almost everyone I see at a station refueling is doing it while running.trucker_101 and scottied67 Thank this. -
