The answer to that question is so simple ------
that I don't have an answer.
Makes perfect sense to me, Lurch.
Maybe it's time to write the, major Big truck truck manufacturers a
letter asking the same question.
Or the patent office.
Fueled the cab how embarassing

Well, just think about the rate of flow of a commercial rig type fuel pump, and that BIG nozzle. When you dump the fuel directly into the tank, no problem.
But say you try to pump into a fuel tube, and that tube has to empty into the fuel tank, on the other side of the truck. You would have to have a design that is such that you don't get blow back. Otherwise, your nozzle is going to shut off, or you are gonna get fuel all over the place.
I find this a problem every time I try to fill my pick up at a big rig diesel pump. The only time I will do this, is if that is all that is available. It means you have to stand there and do a manual feed on the nozzle, or it will shut off, and blow all over the place as it shuts off.
I'm not saying it couldn't be done. Of course it could. But it would take some serious modification of the way things are designed right now. -
YeAH!
That would require
progress.
Heaven forbid.
-
Because that is the way we've always done it! Uh-huh. .

Don't fix it unless it's broken.
Or, there's money to be made.

Don, makes sense.. to a point, and it's one I'd not considered. Still, a 3-inch vented tube would eliminate those problems.

pretty good idea there. Maybe even one fill cap that y's off to each tank? Probably some FMCSA rule that say's no if I had to guess.
